Warhawk goes gold, gets price, date, matching pumps photo

Warhawk, Sony's upcoming jet/ground-combat-simu-arcade title has finally gone gold. After what seems like years of watching pretty pictures and hearing how it's the next evolution in the jet/ground-combat-simu-arcade genre, on August 28th, 2007, Joe Q. Public and Jane Q. Mudane will get their chance to pick the game up either via download on the PlayStation Network, or at retail for an MSRP of $59.99.

The smart money believes this title will sell like hotcakes, if only because of the lack of quality titles on the PS3. The question now is: how many of you plan to download it in lieu of travelling to your local Walmart and picking the game up during one of your weekly "Diapers N' Tobacco" shopping sprees?

I heard it's really good. I know 5 people who are in the beta at the G.A.P, and they think it's fine.

I'm kind of worried about the price, though.

So wait, the downloadable price is the same as the retail price or they have only announced the retail? From the way you word it it sounds like my options are to use up a few gigs of my hard drive and pay 60 bucks, or I can go to wal mart, get a free bluetooth headset, and save a few gigs of drive space for the same price? Sony amazes me some times.

@ArrestedDeveloper: No, the online-only version (sans headset and extra features — “some expanded video content”) will sell for $39.99 on the PlayStation Store.

yeah, finally followed the link to the real blog. My urge to rant outweighed my urge to logically inform myself. Same internets, different day.

Looks like fun, but a shame they cut the single player out.

yeah the bluetooth headset cost like $39.99 and it comes with the blue ray version of this game. I guess buying the actual game instead of downloading it will save you 10 bucks since the game is actually costing you 20 dollars plus the head set. I've played the beta for this and it is mighty fun and amazing. i think the price is fair considering i've played ninja gaiden and the darkness yet spent way more time playing warhawk than both of those games combined.

$40 for the download? Bleh. It looks like the EGM review is going to go down a point. (If you don't feel like following that link, here's the important part -- "Lead reviewer (and former OPM editor) Joe Rybicki actually placed a note in his [Warhawk] review to EGM Reviews Editor Greg Ford that his score should be dropped a whole point if the price was announced above $30")

Im getting the retail box just for the blue tooth headset.

1) perfect use for all PS3 chatting games, home, regular PSN chat.
2) Skype PC free calls
3) bluetooth cell phone calls on headset wins over cell phone usage :)

cant wait to play this game with the Dtoid fam!

Personally I like having a hard copy of all of my games. I also don't have a headset so the extra $20 isn't looking too bad right now.
