Warhawk $59.99 at retail, includes Bluetooth headset photo
     War

Sony has confirmed with 1UP that the PlayStation Network title, Warhawk, will be headed to retail shelves on a Blu-ray disc come August 28, 2007. They also have confirmed earlier reports that a retail version of the game will also ship with a Bluetooth headset, a peripheral that will certainly come in handy for fans of PS3 online play.

From Sony, via 1UP

The highly anticipated title Warhawk, a PLAYSTATION 3 exclusive, will be available both as a downloadable title via PLAYSTATION Network and at retail stores as a Blu-ray disc on August 28, 2007. The Blu-ray version will retail at stores for $59.99 and will be bundled with a Jabra Bluetooth headset ($39 value), bonus features and upcoming product trailers. Pricing for the PLAYSTATION Network download of Warhawk has not been announced.

Pricing and release date for the downloadable version of Warhawk has yet to be announced, but if you assume you're getting no discount on the $40 headset, it might be a safe bet to say it'll cost no less than $19.99. The headset included, the Jabra BT125, has received solid review scores on sites like CNET.

This is definitely a slick move on Sony's part, and will certainly drive gamers into the store where they'll buy four or five SIXAXIS controllers and a copy of Motorstorm. It wouldn't surprise me in the least if a similar bundle were offered with a retail version of the upcoming SOCOM Confronation (which has not been announced for retail as of right now). Good show, Sony. Good show.

Awesome...tomorrow is the last day of the Public Beta, which I’ve recently been playing the hell out of. I can’t wait to get my grubby paws on the real thing in less than two months! The Beta is tons of fun, even though it has crashed my PS3 a few times (I suppose that’s to be expected with a beta version...there are also some other strange bugs, but again, it’s still in testing mode).

The hilarious part is that I bought a BT125 headset on eBay for $10 in February or something, but I lost it when I came home from college. I held off on buying another headest because I heard that one was going to be included with Warhawk — now, I won’t even have to be paying extra for it!

That's generous of them, now I'll have two.

seems kinda like a weird bundle, tho i do have to say that it not being a warhawk branded device is nice. i thought the big news on this games was that it was only gonna be a download title. well, i guess i was wrong.

This may kind of suck. One of the things I liked about Resistance was that I wasn't accused of being a [insert derogatory racial slur here] every 5 seconds when I'm in the lead.

Thing is once you buy four or five controllers and a copy of motorstorm, you will find out it has no split-screen multiplayer. Then you will shoot yourself in the face.

@ Agent Chieftain:

I was always too lazy to change the settings, so I'd always hear that coming out of my speakers anyhow.

Well Cheiftan, it's probably optional to use a headset, as the PSN version won't have one included.

When I had the chance to play Resistance, the few people who talked were adults, thankfully. I actually own a Motorola H3, but since nobody else really used them I never bothered connecting it.

Did anybody else play Warhawk on the PSX? I remember enjoying it, but what was the deal with the cyborg guy with pink goo tubes in his nose?

instead of a bluetooth ear piece they should have opted for the brain implant that makes you not regret getting a PS3.

I agree. Good bundle! And I heard it's a really good game, too!

Now if only I could afford a PS3...

With Metroid Prime 3 coming out August 27, Blue Dragon coming out August 28, and Bioshock being released one week prior, I just don't think I'm going to find space for Warhawk. Especially when the Haloes are only a month away.
