Warhammer third-person shooter also coming to PC photo

And you thought that the consoles were only going to get the Warhammer 40,000 third-person shooter love, eh? That's crazy, talk -- THQ has announced today that Warhammer: 40,000: Space Marine will hit Windows PC, along with the previously announced versions for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

"The loyal PC audience is incredibly important to us here at Relic," says Jonathan Dowdeswell, General Manager at Relic Entertainment, the game's developer, "so we are delighted to announced the PC version of the game."

Space Marines is Relic's first-person take on the Warhammer 40,000 universe, mixing melee and ranged combat as players battle against the barbaric Orks. It's out in early 2011.

Ffffffff....this game will be much better on the godly ps3. On the xcocks it will smell of smegma and be a clear indication of homosexual tendencies.

That's for cowsick. And a tribute to Gareth.

It's third-person. I'm over-worked this morning. Updated. Sorry for any confusion.

I just got *back* into 40K.

From what I remember of my 40K glory days, the games were terrible. The Warhammer Fantasy MMO was also terrible after level 20.

I'm a closet warhammer 40k fan, was actually perusing the miniatures website last night! So I, secretly, cannot wait for this!

Are Relic reliable to bring us a good shooter experience? serious question. What are their best titles?

I collected the orcs but I secretly envied my brothers collection of marines.

Haven't had much to do with the series for about 10 years so I humbly ask the destruction community......will this game be any good?

You serious? They're probably the best rts developer out there (HA. Take that Blizzard!) and have made the Homeworld, Company of heroes and Dawn of War series.

While they've never made a true Third person Action game, Dawn of war 2 had campaigns that were pretty close to such games as diablo and titan quest at times.
They're also top-notch in creating visceral action and are about the only company up until now that have been able to recreate the 40k universe succesfully.

Anyway, I was really sad that they skipped putting this out on pc. (Which would've been a really dumb move btw. I mean, their whole fanbase is based on the pc and it's pretty big.) Which means I'm super-stoked now :D.

Yeah, i was aware of the DoW games. I played the first one on the PC and really enjoyed it. I'm not usually a RTS fan, but that game seemed a little more like canon fodder rather then C&C, which seemed like a good thing to me. Highly polished. Didn't they make a FPS 40k game called firewarrior also, but i seem to recall that being pretty bad. I like the idea of a 3rd person 40k run n gunner. I just feel that there is a very high standard of game in the 3rd person action genre and its not going to be easy for a developer to make a mark unless they pull off some serious shit.

I hope they can do it though :)

Relic didn't make Fire Warrior. Kuju Entertainment did. And yes, it's terrible.

As much as I enjoy Space Marines, They're getting kinds stale. I'd rather have another Tau game. Tau don't get enough love. D:

@Linkoman: That's probably because the Tau are all huge Sting fans. Of course I'm talking new age, tantric Sting and not coked out Police-era Sting. Plus the Tau all look like sentient elf turds.

I'd be happier with an Eldar campaign for Dawn of War 2.

@Linkoman - perhaps the space marine concept is a little stale, but I'm more sick of playing as normal dudes who take on entire armies by themselves (not counting a few useless allies). At least a Warhammer 40k Space Marine is supposed to be a near unstoppable killing machine.
