Warhammer Online refunds coming due to billing issue photo

No, Warhammer Online user, you weren't charged a monthly fee 16 times in a single month because your Chaos Marauder is just that baller. It's because Mythic screwed up. The good news -- inflection depending on how far the coffee shot out of your mouth upon glancing at the billing flub on your statement -- is that the developer has realized something is amiss, is getting refunds to users, and is addressing the core of the issue.

Users of all kinds are reporting zany billing via the MMO's official forums. One two-user household, for example, reportedly has been charged 27 times in a lone month. But all is ending well, hopefully. An update on the Warhammer Web site states that Mythic's has "confirmed" with their vendor that users who were charged more than once should "start seeing a reversal of charges within 24-36 hours."

The post also has some handy advice for getting those banking fees wiped, and additional steps you can take if you find yourself down 700 dollars thanks to that totally baller Chaos Marauder. Read on!

As a Data Center Supervisor, I can totally understand things like this happening... As much as we try, duplicate data will always occur in IT-systems, if the duplicate data is by chance a billing-run of batch-jobs, that fails a few times and gets incorrectly restarted ( trust me it's harder then it sounds ) people will get multiple invoices or in the case above with automatic withdrawal from accounts, they'll loose their money multiple times...

if it's anything like Toyota Motor Europe over there, somebody is getting fired this instant for causing this...

I saw this right after it happened and man, people got downright NASTY at the mods. I felt really bad for them.

that's brutal, 16 times in a single month? that means that if i was at zero dollars (which i normally am), i would've also gotten 16 'insufficient funds' charges on my account -- which run me 35 bucks each.

that's why i pay all my bills manually, and have never subscribed to anything online.

And what about credit ratings and the like? Will they be sorted? I doubt most banks will comply as easily as they're making out.

I doubt everyones going to get their money, and most people are going to find a different MMORPG because of this.

The erroneous charges continue to pile up on Warhammer Online customer's bank accounts. Why they haven't yet ceased with the overbilling is unknown. The problem was discovered two days ago. Despite claims of speedy reimbursements, there has yet been no money returned to the affected customers.
