Warhammer Online 10-day trial is available, get your Orc on for free photo

Starting today, Electronic Arts and Mythic are offering a 10-day trial for their PC MMO, Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning. You can download the client, sign forms, and begin ruining your social life through this link here.

As with most MMO trials, you’ll have free reign in WAR’s universe. That includes the Bitter Rivals event (culminates in the opportunity to play the two new classes before full release) and the endless joys of experience points grinding.

Minor observation: 10-days is the standard trial period for MMOs. I’ve never thought it was enough time to adequately gauge or even experience what the game has to offer. To me, it seems like a 10-day window will only grab the casual interest, a person who won’t bloom into a devotee. Do you guys think trial periods should be longer? Or, at least within that timeframe, should publishers provide you with a character that can do higher-level stuff?

Against my much better judgment I am going to download the trial. I've always been curious about Warhammer Online but my fear of being addicted and monthly fees have turned me off of it.

There's too much flaws in Warhammer Online to be fun. Mythic is doing a good job so far patching shit up, but they need much more, and until then, I'm holding off. Plus DARKFALL JUST CAME OUT YO!

I bought this game and I regret it. Boring, graphic is a total disaster. Only few things r fun to play ( public quests, Realm vs Realm ). Now i need to sell that crap 4/10 ;/

I bought Warhammer and devoted an entire weekend to it, and never logged on again. The game is fun, but it's just another WoW clone. And like every other WoW clone, it isn't as good as the game that inspired it.

@Shalashaska

I did the same exact thing. Although I found PVP to be a shit-ton better than the experience I had playing WoW for a year, I still prefer actual content and gameplay, so I stuck with WoW.

It's not really a WoW clone, but of course it shares the same outline as WoW. If you want to start calling clone, then WoW is an EQ clone.

Been playing the game since launch and I'm having a blast. The game should have launched in the condition it is now, It would have been a much better launch. Join a med/med server and get ready to PVP your heart out. DAOC is my true love and this one is close in so many ways, I'm having a great time. One thing to note about the trial. You only get Tier 1 for all racial pairings and the Capital cities. You get limited AH functionality as well. Honestly with Warhammer, 10 days is fine. Considering you can find out about the RVR and Scenariors from the second you create your character, you'll know if you like the awesome PVP, or not. You can lvl 1-10 in about 2-3 hours so since you cant level past 11 in the trail it should be perfectly fine.

I keep meaning to come back. Maybe I'll test my new rig out with a trial account.

I gotta recommend taking them up on this just because you can join scenario PvP fights from level 1, so you can get a good idea if it's your thing or not.

Also, the only difference between WoW and every MMO before it is that WoW has class ability sets that don't suck. If that's what makes a game a WoW clone then every MMO from here on is a WoW clone.

@original post, 10 days is short but there's a reason why that's the standard now instead of the old 30. The damage done by botters and spammers is already ridiculous. Results range from WoW (bad) to Ragnarok Online (legendary).

I can't believe how quickly people forget how utterly bad WoW was for the first 6 months. Its easy to say warhammer sucks compared to WoW now. A 6 month old mmo won't be able to compete with a 5 year old mmo that has the budget WoW has. I play both WAR and WoW (I also have a DAoC account open too). Both have strengths and weaknesses. I am however an original DAoCer and I prefer WAR and really am pulling for mythic to do well.

As for 10 days. Honestly if you have played mmos before its ample time. But if this is your first attempt at a mmo and really know nothing of the genere then you could probably use more like 20 days to really get your feet wet. Definately pick a server with the most people on during primetime... The most fun in mmos comes when you have people to do stuff with (plus if your new it helps to have people to ask questions)

SLAYERS!!!!!! I can't wait! PVP in War is a lot of fun imo... until Tier 4. Then its just me getting slaughtered by guilds over and over again because I don't have the time or care to join one myself. Oh well, I love the Warhammer world and Dwarfs are awesome.
