The console-exclusive action RPG Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine has understandably upset a portion of dedicated PC fans who have bought Relic games on PC for years. Who can blame them for wanting what looks to be an intriguing new installment in a series full of great fiction?
Talking with bit-tech, Relic's confirmed that it has taken the all too familiar stance of "if the demand is there, we will consider it." There is currently a petition the studio is aware of, but at the time of writing this, it doesn't exactly have a lot of signatures.
I had originally assumed the decision to leave out PC was due to the nature of Space Marine, and I was spot on. Relic's goal is to "bring that same Warhammer 40,000 experience to console gamers in a unique and awesome way," one that wouldn't necessarily play as nicely on a PC.
And while they didn't say this, I'm willing to bet piracy was another reason behind the choice for console exclusivity.

"bitches love sandcastles" ... yet, there is no sandcastle in that photo. We may never truly understand his ways.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
If they're sticking to the same reasoning as they did with the Outfit is that it's a genuine reach for the console community and form a relationship with them on a different level than they have with their PC user base. Their idea is that there isn't much demand for this type of game on PC (Relic primarily makes RTS games) but they are willing to reconsider it if there is enough outcry they will consider it which means they aren't abandoning the PC platform or putting it on 'second class citizen' mode.
It's a lot different than say Bioware when they were pressed on the idea of a PC port of Mass Effect and said basically "Ain't happening for a million years" and then it happened. This is why Relic is rather respected even when they make patching booboos.
Please please don't plant the seed of "must be PC piracy" because we could flip this and make assumptions that Relic has produced Six PC exclusive titles because Relic thinks the consoles smell like feces.

I'm sorry but that's kind of a bullshit excuse as anything you can play on console you can play on PC. even if it's some kind of controller oriented gameplay, most PC gamers have a controller
It's my PC GOTY so far...Torchlight is pushing in to that spot though.
I know piracy is big on the PC, I know it is a legit concern, but often I wonder how much a creation it is of the gaming media, since they feel the need to mention it right along with every PC story ever written in the last 5 years.
This kind of game would have heavy pirating if on PC.
Anyway, I am not arguing against the fear of it, I hate the fact it is so prevalent and harms my platform. At some point we will have some kind of online all the time method worked out which all but eliminates it and we can move on.
Games like God of War will always work better with a controller, and this game looks like its gonna be pretty similar, a hack n slash game (with lots of shooting, though, I really hope) with rpg elements behind it. I'm fine with that sticking to consoles, where it will be more appreciated.
Controllers have been a part of PC gaming since it started. We have a choice between them or a mouse and keyboard. On console there is no choice. That is the only difference.
