War for Cybertron DLC characters selling for $100 on eBay photo

Wait, what?

As unbelievable as it sounds, the DLC preorder characters from Transformers: War for Cybertron are currently for sale on eBay, and are actually raking in some mad bank. Shockwave, Jazz and Demolisher, previously only available from GameStop, Best Buy and Amazon respectively, are making their sellers anywhere between $30 and $100!

Shockwave is the cheapest, averaging a $30 cost, while Jazz typically sells for around $50. Apparently not many people preordered War for Cybertron from Amazon, as Demolisher is averaging $100 a sale. And yes, these things are selling! One $96 Demolisher code has seen over forty bids thus far.

DLC codes on eBay are not a new phenomenon, but this recent little sale has confirmed just how strangely viable a market it is. It also strikes me as funny how preorders must have been low since people were so skeptical of the game, and now they're regretting it after finding out how good it is.

Also, is this a bad time to mention that I got my hands on all three characters for nothing?

I've noticed this trend too, Jim....the Red dead redemption "war horse" (bestbuy DLC) has been going for between $25-$50.

This was obviously going to happen, some people are just completists. But $100 for the Demolisher skin? Yeesh...

Why not just wait a month for DLC.

I just can't find it in myself to be too shocked or surprised by this. I've spent money stupidly before; bought avatar clothes, spent money on SF4 and SSF4 alternate outfits.

Bottom line: if it makes somebody happy, who gives a shit how ridiculous it seems?

WHAAAAAAAT?! That's ridiculous. Really. Considering the amount of comments on a PS3 price-related post wherein people state that a PS3 is too expensive, this should get at least a million comments.

Shhhh! Jim, don't tell everyone about this. More competition will drive down prices...

I think that this is all a setup by a super secret global population control squad run by eBay. If you buy one of these multiplayer skins for $100, eBay flags your purchase, labels you as too stupid to live, and then dispatches their population control team to capture and kill you, and then burn your body to destroy any evidence............ It's just a theory right now though.

...aren't these codes only available for use in single-player? And only in certain modes?

What the fuck, man?
Why would someone wanna spend 100 bucks on a skin? Do those skins really enhance their gaming experience so much, that they would spend enough money for two new games on that?

There's some phrase, something about money and sense, something about people having too much of one and not enough of the other.

Whatever that phrase is, it deserves to be applied to this situation.

The fact that Shockwave is going the cheapest is the real tragedy here.

Hahaha. Thats absurd. They'll just be DLC in a month or two. Like Activision wouldn't want to cash in on these characters to the general consumer.

For that kind of money, I'd want an actual Transformer; not just a character in the game.

Not worth it at all. While I'd like having the others it's not worth that just for the code. Besides I bought one a day after release at best buy that still had Jazz so it wasn't completely necessary to preorder

I hope that like MAG, this pre-order DLC content will have all of the skins will be available for a free-.99 fee for each skin, a little while after the game comes out. If the market is there, it would be silly for the publisher and developers not to release these skins as cheap DLC to increase $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

It's a secret plot by activision to see just how much they can really get for dlc. Don't fall for it people. Next set of cod maps will be more than the game!

Who says that kind of thing? Do you have some sort of superiority complex against the readership?

This just proves, besides when the current gen consoles came out and people were selling xbox 360s and PS3s at an outrageous price over ebay, that people are just plain stupid! Literally the general public needs to be taken into a mandatory class to learn NOT to do this sort of thing!

People are dumb. I just sold a Golden Guns code for Red Dead Redemption the other day for $30. All they do is make the guns you start with gold (and reload a little faster or somethin trivial), you get new guns after like 10 minutes and never use the starter ones again.

The best thing is when those characters will be released as DLC for 1,99$. I want to see the faces of the nut-jobs who bought them on Ebay before hand.

While not to such an extreme extent, the same thing happened with ModNation Racers.

Kratos (GameStop) was usually going for $1-3. Drake (BestBuy) was going for around $8. Then, Ratchet & Clank (Amazon) was going for around $25-40.

Absolutely insane. I was trying to get Drake, and refused to pay more than $4... which, of course, meant I kept losing out. (Honestly, I didn't even care about Drake - I just wanted to get the extra creation parts you can only get with the pre-order DLC)

I thought $30 for Ratchet & Clank mods was insane... $96 for Demolisher? You've gotta be shitting me. Seriously, you can buy a whole 'nuther game AND a Greatest Hits/Platinum Title BRAND NEW for that amount. Absolute insanity.

I also managed to get all three codes for PS3 too. I work at a video store and we preordered from Amazon and Gamestop and we picked some up at Best Buy. I still have 2 codes for 360 unused too. Might need to look at selling those now.
