Wanted: Weapons of Fate hits store shelves tomorrow. Since it’s so close to launch, Universal released a pretty teaser trailer loaded with action, narrative and sexy quotes from past coverage of the game. Hit the break to the check it out.
I usually don’t bother with licensed games that don’t have the bald-headed stud Vin Diesel, but I believe I’ll give Weapons of Fate a spin. Slow motion effects still give me a hard-on, plus there’s the promise of decent story elements. The game is a true sequel that expands on the fictional foundation of the movie.
A demo for the game is available on Xbox Live and PlayStation Network. If you’re still straddling the fence after you play, check out our full preview and NY Comic Con coverage of the game. (Paula Abdul may or may not make an appearance in the game.)
The bullet bending action might seem cool at first, but i can imagine it wearing off and just becoming a gimmick. Then it'll be just a generic shooter.
Guess I have to voice my dissent. I enjoyed the demo. It wasn't anything special but it did add a couple of interesting twists to basic Gears-style gameplay. I'll definitely be renting this one at some point.
I disagree with the majority of people's views on the demo.
At first, I thought it was pretty bad, but after a couple of playthroughs, the mechanics sort of "click." When you get how to play the game, instead of trying to play it like Gears or Uncharted, it becomes a fantastic ballet of bullets and death. I recommend trying the demo again, perhaps after doing the tutorials, to anyone who didn't like the game. Overlook the crappy graphics of the demo's opening cutscene, and give it another go.
As for my demo impressions, the game got really old. At first, the gameplay mechanics were kinda cool, but the gameplay and level design was just dull. It's pretty much hide behind cover, wait for enemy to pop his head out, and shoot, and move to next cover, and rinse and repeat. Now, I know that all video games are inherently repetitive, but this one made no attempt to mix things up.
The first time I bent a bullet, it was neat. Before and after that, the rest of the demo was a poorly designed third person shooter that I wont be bothered to play.
Ive played the full game....its shit. once you get the curving bullet there is not point aiming at the bad guy hold LB get the right angle the let go LB boom head shot.

I seriously doubt the game will be better. This won't be a game I will ever buy, it's that bad, IMO, that is.
