Ben Underwood just made my day. I've never seen anything quite like what he can do with a controller, much less the awesome stuff he can do outside of that. The next time you bitch about not being able to beat that score or win that match, I bet you'll remember this guy. Apparently he's mastered something called echolocation - the same thing that dolphins use to place their position within their surroundings. Chad, are you listening?

It does my heart good to know that games can still be enjoyed and loved by all kinds of people - the right ones don't let impediments get in their way.

[Thanks for this gem, Leo!]

I can do the same but I fart instead of clicking.

This is pretty amazing by the way. Our potential is amazing, I always am in awe of savants.

Tough kid, really impressive that he can do all this. Parents and children alike should take inspiration from the attitudes of his parents and him.

Awesome kid with an awesome mom. We need more people like this in America.

We also need more positive news stories like this.

I remember being really jealous of this kid because he got a Wii about three months before they came out. I'm still not sure how he plays games, I don't buy the 'different voices' thing... but it's really impressive and a testament to the adaptability of the human race!

I remember watching a video where he was on The Ellen Degeneres Show where he was awarded the Wii a good month before it was released stateside. However, beside the fact, the ability is to recognize his surroundings based on sound is just amazing and inspirational.

No one's probably ever going to see this, and if they do I am probably getting lynched but that's all right. I'm not totally blind like this kid, but I have friends who are, and I am legally blind myself. Although what he is doing is pretty interesting, it just doesn't seem safe. I am all about being blind and doing stuff, I went to Africa for two months, and I have a friend that has been to the Dominican Republic, skis, rock climbs, and done sky diving (totally blind), but I would not want to go out witout a cane, that's just being cocky. I would worry about stairs, and how does this kid do in unfamilar environments. Without using some of the extra tools, this kid is gonna end up hurting later. I hope not, but .. you just don't want to nail two blocks of wood together with your skull. Same thing here. The tools make it easier, faster and safer.. 'nuff said.

Oh, and to the guy that asked what I am doing on the computer. Wasting time, the same as the rest of you.. oh and working... when I have to.

Rant, being completed, I wish I could game half as well as this kid.

I want to call this kid Bat Underwood. It rolls off the tongue somehow.

I wonder how well he does in rhythm games.

@fuzzy: I wholeheartedly agree. It's fucking funny until they're making fun of YOU. Someone made a "joke" about diabetes in a previous story, and I left it be, but this time I will not.
Disability's aren't funny. One who is making fun of another who has a disability will eventually have the same fate visited upon them. Don't take pity on them, but also don't treat them differently. We all are different in some ways, and this kid takes his disability and makes it into an ability. I'd like to see the people making fun of him go through the same experience. I'll bet they'll cry and throw a tantrum because they can't do things like they used to.

Fucking assholes, be nicer to others.

It is all about attitude. The kid wouldn't let anything beat him... not even a simple video game. Not even living in a world of darkness. Being a gamer, you should identify with this. Most games are about overcoming incredible odds. This kid did such a thing, and making fun of him makes you less of a person... Even subhuman.
