One of my favorite upcoming indie games right now is Chroma Squad: Sentai Tactical Manager, coming to Steam later this year. All you need to know is that it features strategy RPG combat with sentai (Japanese hero squad) teams, and that it all takes place in a TV studio. Weird, right? Definitely, but I'm in love with it.

If you want to know why I'm so into it, watch this developer walkthrough video. I'll admit to playing this exact demo at GDC last month, but never got around to talking about it. But now you can just watch and see (and hear -- the music is great!). The demo also goes onto new stages that I haven't seen, as well as a deeper look into team play and strategy. I'm even more jazzed about this game after seeing the Mecha fights.

WANT WANT WANT. So many good games coming!

Ever since I, as a grown man, got back into watching Japanese television shows targeted at seven-year-olds, I've wanted to see a proper, well-done videogame inspired by Super Sentai, Power Rangers, Kamen Rider and other...
Finally! Last we heard, Power Rangers' Saban was all bent out of shape about Chroma Squad and trying to either claim royalties on it or keep it from releasing. What a bummer that was for the XCOM-y mix of strategy game and m...
Behold Studios' Chroma Squad is about managing a brand new sentai television series and, being an in-depth parody, it of course draws inspiration from real-life shows, including -- but far from limited to -- Power Rangers. In...
I played a lot of XCOM last year, between running through Enemy Unknown late and Enemy Within. The blend of on the ground, turn-based combat and back home base management simulation hooked me. Chroma Squad is basically that. Except you're directing a Sentai with actors in colorful spandex dancing around lots of explosions and turtle and plant monsters. It's pretty great.
We heard about Chroma Squad last year and it looks great. It's one half Sentai studio management sim, one half tactical, turn-based battler. You buy better actors, special effects, answer fan mail and fight people. I like it...
I know a lot of you are super spentai monetarily after Steam sales, but those still with dollars to give might want to spend some sentime with the Chroma Squad Kickstarter. In Chroma Squad, you're tasked with managing a fres...
