Want a NES Joystick Test Cartridge? Yours for only $1,050 photo

I'm a NES fanatic, but I have to admit to never even having seen a picture of one of these things before. Currently listed on eBay for the highly affordable price of $1,050, these carts were used by game stores to test their NES systems and were never sold to the public, so your guess is as good as mine as to how the seller got his or her hands on this thing.

For me, boasting rights aren't worth a grand, especially when I can't even play the thing, but I guess I can see how someone might froth at the mouth for this, especially if they are aiming for a complete collection of every NES cart ever made. Then you can show off to your friends what this thing does, which I expect is probably kind of on the boring side.

Jeez...would be cool to have to show my friends or my kids (when they are older). But, I can buy a lot of NES cartridges that actually have games on them for $1000+.

cant you just test a NES and controllers by turning it on and trying to play a game? what the hell is the point of this really?

but if i had the money i would buy it if it was part of some huge lot but not 1000 for just this cart.

The wear on the label makes this worthless.

Hmmm ... a joystick test cartridge or a round trip ticket to Japan during off-season and $300 to spend on SuperPotato Tokyo ... how should I choose?

Seriously now...this is not even a real game. A thousand dollars my ass. I would rather buy a virtual boy game than this blank cartridge.

Wow that's a high price tag for a very beautiful piece of videogame history.

I suspect VGMari has a box of these somewhere in her collection.

@niero.

As if there's any debate. You skip Super Potato and go buy tentacle pr0n.

Obviously a collector's item, but like someone else said, isn't every NES game a "joystick test cartridge"?
