Wanna see what Duke Nukem Forever could have been like? photo

The fine folks over at Team Blur, a PC map-making and modding community, have been collecting a whole bunch of images from the now-cancelled-for-real-this-time-I-swear-probably-unless-someone-else-gives-them-funding Duke Nukem Forever.  Surprisingly, the images actually look somewhat okay, making me wonder if DNF actually had a slim chance of being anything other than a massive abortion. Head on over to this thread and check it out - they've got a bunch of pictures, mostly weapon, enemy, and level designs, and there are more uncensored breasts. (Note - The pod chick kind of looks like a dude. A dude with huge boobs.)

My favorite is the triple-titted alien pictured above (what would Duke Nukem be without jugs?), but there's a lot of other cool stuff in the thread too. Go ahead and take a look (and we all know you will, thanks to that awesome teaser pic up there). It looks like it's being updated periodically, so keep checking back for any new alien erotica.

Do you think that, based on these pictures, Duke had potential, or do these not really change any of your opinions about the game?

(If you couldn't guess, some of the images in that thread are NSFW. Although, if your job requires you to be working at 4AM in the morning on a Saturday, I think you probably deserve to go ahead and click.)

What's the relation between the story and the woman in the gallery image Jonathan?

Looks like it could have turned out to be a decent game, if a more generic-sci-fi-space-marine version of the Duke universe.

Holy shit it wasn't gonna be like shit. Then again it might have been a 100 hour long 8-bit game.

@Justice: The woman in the gallery is Judy Greer, in her role as Kitty Sanchez on the TV show Arrested Development. The text in the post's header image is her catch-phrase, declared as she exposes her breasts in the aftermath of the multiple times she is fired.

Its a shame because the screenshots of what they done actually looked pretty good, although they definitely did take their time developing DNF... I mean 13 years in development, with many game engine switches was a big issue.

I thought DNF ended up being unaffected by the problems at 3D Realms.

That's the Duke Nukem "trilogy" being developed for handhelds by another studio.

95% of those shots looked depressingly generic. Shades of Doom 3, Prey and Unreal Tournament 3, all mixed together into a grey-brown sludge. I'm betting the cool [if overly patriotic] jeep was from an earlier version and cut from the last build :(

I couldn't have gave two shits about this game being cancelled, and then you go and show me a tri-bewb'd alien.

Now I'm disappointed.

Thanks a lot :P

yeah. none of these screenshots warrant 13 years of development. its the same "we all sat down and watched Aliens, then ripped off everything" kind of game world. generic metal corridors, alien pods, control rooms, xenomorph mucas. wheres all the las vegas stuff they showed in those million year old trailers ? hopefully the alpha, beta, or whatever build will get leaked, and we can all run around in it.

well judging by the hype the game was consistently getting (10 years worth), I would say it had a very good chance of being a decent FPS.

Shake it baby. All three of 'em.

I'll be surprised if Duke Nukem Forever doesn't become reality. I'd buy it as long as it was mediocre or better.
