Wait a sec: what's Dissidia Final Fantasy: Universal Tuning? photo

Hey, Dissidia's finally about to come out -- sounds like good news, doesn't it? Well, if you already preordered a copy, you may be interested to know another version is already being planned, called Dissidia Final Fantasy Universal Tuning. WTF?

According to Siliconera, a teaser site has opened for this version of the game. It will include the arcade mode Square Enix added for the Western release, tons of new character tuning options (over 100), and English voice acting with Japanese subtitles. Nothing you need, but leave it to Square to make an international version just so completionists have to import yet another game.

Any save data from the regular version of Dissidia will be transferrable to Universal Tuning, and this special version will also be released at retail and through PSN.I think I'll stick with my regular old Western release of this one, thanks very much.

They do this for every game now; it's just their "Final Mix" version so that the Japanese won't feel left out on things that were added for the Western release.

I will also just be keeping my regular version, but seriously don't announce a new version of a game a few days before the regular version comes out.

Square enix is the absolute worst at naming things. What's the XIII based games called again? Fabula Nova Crystallis Final Fantasy XIII, catchy.

Yeah, basically the INTERNATIONAL version. While it doesn't quite seem like we're missing out on much (not as much as KHIIFM, though we did get the Re:CoM portion of KHIIFM+), what I really wanna know is if this version will allow play with NA and/or EU players.

I really wish this game would be ported to PS2 like other PSP games. I'm sort of hoping that this is what this version will be, but I doubt it.

I think I'll stick with my import copy. I only use it for bus rides anyway. No reason to shell out more money. Not even going to buy the US release.

Square makes the stupidest titles ever. And I though Infinite Undiscovery and that Kingdom Hearts 365/2 days was bad.

This game is terrible. Played the Jap version a couple months ago. It's just fan service, only it's slightly better quality than Ehrgeiz was. When people will buy a game solely based on the characters it features, the company knows they don't have to make a great game, just good enough.

They know they can get away with the wholesale rape of their fanbase. It's like Mortal Kombat - when a company knows that there is a legion of stupids waiting to buy a title with a brand name, they'll buy it happily regardless of the final product and tell everyone that speaks the truth about the game that they don't know what they're talking about.

This phenomenon is what keeps SqEnix shitting out FF sequels instead of making/remaking another Chrono.

Bastards.

When I read "tuining" I actually though the would have made the game, you know, NOT BROKEN like it is right now. Like, not every character having 17 infinites...
