Destructoid is gaming news, community, videos, and sometimes love. Take the tour or jump in with Facebook:

When it comes to platformers, I like them to be horrifically cruel and set to a catchy tune. While more often than not I have to settle for one or the other, Terry Cavanagh's upcoming VVVVVV looks to satisfy both of my requirements.

A trailer for the indie game went up recently, and if you have a similar (albeit unusual) taste in videogames, you might just want to check it out. This is the first I've even heard of the project, but then again, I don't keep up on the independent gaming news as much as I used to.

I have fond memories of playing Don't Look Back, and the same can pretty much be said of Judith. Yes sir, I've got high hopes for VVVVVV, but I'm confident it will meet my expectations based on the aforementioned games -- seriously, I really liked them!

I share your enthusiasm, Jordan!

For some reason, that picture reminds me of Dead Movie Star's game.

Can I just say I'm watchig The Daily Show where there was a clip of some guys at a local town meeting yelling "Lie," during a health care forum, then the Joe Wilson clip, then I come here and see "Lies" on the screen above and I am disturbed. The world is a scary place.

On topic you make the game sound interesting. Unfortunately I'm on the mobile site. Grr. DToid please make videos watchable for iPhones.

Was going to make a cBlog about this but didn't know if anyone would be interested. Terry Cavanagh is a prince and this new game looks like it's going to rock! A crazy platformer with and exploration theme. Can't fucking wait!

I saw the header pic, and I was like "eh" but, then I watched the trailer, and I was like "DUDE". The gameplay concept is like "SUPER AWESOME" and I was like

"whoa".

Very Commodore 64. Especially the enemy design. (If you can even call most of them enemies...)

This game looks pretty awesome, and the name is pure genius.

Also, why do I have to click 76 times on fake pictures to finally get to the actual videos these days? It's kinda annoying...

It reminds me of Jet set Willy on Amstrad and Spectrum. Those games were super hard.

I swear some people make platformers just to F people up.

This game should be called FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFU or something. I'll surely say this myself probably after spending twenty minutes with it.

Pretty cool looking gameplay mechanic there, and yes, freaking AWESOME music. The more I listened the better it got. Looking forward to getting my hands on this one.

Also, is it pronounced "vee-vee-vee-vee..." or just a nice "vvvvvv" sound? Like a motorbike. I like the latter.

Also, why oh why Mr. Destructoid, do I have to click an extra time now to go watch the videos? Why not just put them after the jump? My clicky finger is tired.
