VVVV: The 4KB Java demake of VVVVVV photo

Admittedly, that is going to be one heck of a confusing headline for anyone not acquainted with Terry Cavanagh's ridiculously fun platformer VVVVVV. I'm perfectly fine with that, though. If you don't know the wondrous joys of that game, you deserve such treatment.

VVVV was submitted by Markus Persson to the Java4K 2010 competition. As the name of the contest implies, the concept of flipping gravity was squeezed down into a tiny 4KB game using Java. Unlike most games entered into Java4K, VVVV retains a lot of what makes VVVVVV so great.

Go play the thing! It'll take a second to load, plus it's completely free. See if you can get past the part I'm stuck on (pictured above), which is like less than a minute in.

My only issue with this game is that I have no idea how to fucking save. I get some certain point and want to quit, cause for me its a game in short bursts. But whenever I save it wont load when I start my game again.

Take that fucking screenshot down; I spent half a goddamn hour trying to get that shiny thing.

And then I just gave up and shotgunned a beer as a consolation prize.

that part took me at least 10 minutes by itself. 405 deaths later but I beat the game.

The green dude at the end cheering wasn't reward enough T_T

De-make of a pixel platformer? Haha, that's a good one. I'll try it out when I get my damn Java updated, but I played a little on PC and damn, this is going to be just as bad as the VVVVVV demo (And by bad, I mean satisfyingly good when I beat the damn thing).

'Don't Look Back' was good, takes ten minutes to play and it is def worth it. Played the demo on VVVVVV but wasn't that much into it to buy it out right, good game though.

VVVV is also pretty epic, 4kb game ftw. I don't know how good the conclusion to the story of VVVVVV is but from what I know of it (e.g. might be worth it, like Don't Look Back)... I personally don't see why the first one couldn't have been in this small format also, but then again there isn't much difference between them anyway.

I haven't played VVVVVV yet, but I played VVVV and it's tough. If VVVVVV is tougher than VVVV then I'll cry. I got like, 4 guys. I think. I'm not sure. I think I tried to kill myself after playing this. Difficulte.
