VOTE! Which 8-bit games will be played at LoveSac NES Classic this month? photo

If you live anywhere remotely near New York City and you haven't heard of the LoveSac/Destructoid NES Classic, you need to get up to speed.

On November 16 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Brooklyn's Barcade will host the first annual LoveSac NES Classic, which pits players against one another in a series of speed runs in Nintendo Entertainment System classics. Winners can take home all manner of prizes, including LoveSac's GamerSac gaming chair and the coveted bronzed Power Glove trophy!

The final round of the event will have players facing off in a speed run in the first level of Super Mario Bros. 3. But we're leaving what games you'll have to play to get up to that point entirely in your hands. After the jump you'll find a poll with our choices; your votes determine what will be played. We'll accept votes through November 10 at 11:59 EST; the top three will be played at the LoveSac NES Classic later this month.

Also, be sure to register to participate in the event by emailing LoveSacNESclassic @ gmail.com. Participating is free -- you just need to show up and have a good time! We already have a handful of confirmed Dtoid community members headed out to the event, and we'd love to see you there. The more the merrier.

Hit the jump to get your vote on!

Ryu Hayabasa! I vote Ninja Gaiden, insanely hard and even harder to speed run :D

Punch Out! seems more suited for speed runs than Contra, so I went with that.

All these games are too easy.

play battletoads and have the first one to finsh the game win.

I'll be there, so I'll pick some easy games.

Who am I kidding? I have no chance in hell of winning. I'm just going for the microbrews :)

Nick, please tell me where Elevator Action is. I simply cannot take part in this event unless Elevator Action is involved. Please, Nick, don't disappoint me.

ELEVATOR ACTION WILL STRIKE WITHOUT WARNING, LIKE A RON PAUL IN THE NIGHT.

world 1-1 of smb is the most universal choice.

Punch Out would be fun. You can get some really aggressive chains going if you know how to get the stars of out them

Are these speed run trials or score trials?

Mario 1-1 speed run seems like 90% of entrants would have perfect scores. Score / time might be a better option if that wins.

So... when is this coming to San Francisco?
