Perhaps the most (only) exciting part about waiting for a new Super Smash Bros. is speculating on what new characters are coming to the roster. In Japan, the players get to be a part of the selection process by participating in official polls, which in the past have been responsible for Sonic's inclusion in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Unfortunately, they never have them in North America, despite our substantial fanbase.
To get our voices heard for the upcoming Super Smash Bros. on 3DS and Wii U, the folks over at VGTribune have drafted up one of their annual "Smash Polls", currently in its Semifinals. During Tokyo Game Show, VGTribune will be presenting the winners to series director Masahiro Sakurai, who has in the past supported their Smash Bros. character polls (even Tweeting the results of one they held in 2010). Combined with their unique opportunity to deliver the results in person, there's stands a chance that the results of the poll will be taken into consideration for the final roster. It may sound like a long shot, but it may be the only one we have.
Voting for the Semifinals has official begun. If you want to put in your two cents, head over to the poll.
