Vote for your Red Dead Redemption pre-order outfit photo

Rockstar Games doesn't do pre-order items for its games often, so when it does... watch it, it's going to be something special.

The publisher has announced that it will be offering a Red Dead Redemption pre-order bonus through mega-retailer GameStop and it's... a special in-game challenge that will get you a special outfit. Huh? Okay, it's actually a bit cooler than "different outfit."

Users will have the option to vote for one of three different outfits to decide which will be made available as the pre-order bonus. Players will then have to complete a series of in-game challenges to unlock the outfit, and Rockstar is saying that the outfit will "uniquely affect how the surrounding world responds" to the game's main character, John Marston.

It doesn't appear that voting has begun just yet, but Rockstar says that more info on the outfits and their unique effects will be revealed throughout January.

God, I hate exclusive pre-order items. Why is this only available through one damn retailer? If Rockstar is trying to encourage people to purchase the game new, why can't they include a DLC code for the content in every box (just like GoW2 did with the Flashback map)?

The first RDR is IMO the greatest homage to spaghetti westerns in existence... so I really fucking want this game. I guess I might as well pre-order since I was planning on getting this game anyway, and I wouldn't want to wait to download the DLC separately for additional money (which is almost inevitably going to end up for sale to the public after a month).

I'd laugh if the losing outfits are they made available as standard outfits in the game for anyone to unlock.
