Vote for your favorite indie game of 2008 photo

Last year, the Independent Games Festival's Audience Award went to Castle Crashers. What'll it be this year? Well, that's up for you to decide, duh.

A total of fifteen games spanning multiple systems are up for this year's award. There are a few familiar faces, like Between, CarneyVale Showtime, and You Have to Burn the Rope.

But unless you follow indie games religiously, chances are most of the names on the list are going to be foreign to you. I mean, shoot, there's even a game called Dyson. Is it as equally amazing as our Dyson? I've yet to try it, but it's certainly not as handsome.

What are you waiting for? Get to voting!

You Have To Burn The Rope? Really? It was a cute joke granted, but does it really deserve to be on this list?

Yes, it's the 2009 IGF, but the games being honored are all from 2008.

Dyson is pretty cool. And yes, it does indeed say 2009.

Cortex Command looks really violent, so it get's my vote.
Also, Dyson sounds alot like The Space Game, except more tree-ish the space-ish.

Cortex Command really needs a play around. Aside from being simply fantastic, the engine it's designed around is brilliant and god knows what release build they're actually on now. It's been in production for years, and frankly it deserves an awful lot more recognition than it's received.

World of Goo was in LAST year's IGF Awards, hence it not being in this one.

Out of all those, I'll probably pick You Have to Burn the Rope or Pixel Junk Eden. I absolutely loved You Have to Burn the Rope on multiple levels. There was also an awesome Little Big Planet level modeled after it!

The Maw was a traitor to the "indie" name, charging for DLC packs shortly after release that should have been included.

Dyson is pretty kickass, but I really gotta give it up for PixelJunk.

Though Magnalon makes a good point about the nickel-and-diming DLC, I still voted for The Maw. Goddamn I love that game.

Anyone who hasn't played Cortex Command really should. It's only beta right now, so just 2 official levels, but the modding structure is flawless, and there are fantastic mods and levels out there. Plus, buy it now, you get free updates for life, which is a pretty good deal, eh?
