Vote for the best fan-made Mega Man Legends weapon

10:30 PM on 04.10.2012

Last month, the "100,000 Strong" Mega Man Legends 3 movement decided to hold an MML weapon design contest on Capcom-Unity's Devroom. Participants would submit ideas in written format along with diagrams or anything else to illustrate their concept; the winner would be sent a Mega Man Volnutt figurine with a custom attachment modeled after the winning design. It was a fun contest meant to revel in Mega Man appreciation and to hopefully spread awareness for the movement. It seems to have worked, too -- the number of "likes" has since jumped from 64,000 to 85,000!

After sorting through roughly 250 entries, the judges have selected ten finalists, and voting will be open through through April 15. Head on over to the voting page, read the descriptions of the entries, and cast your vote. Some of these weapons are quite clever indeed, while others just flat-out look boss. There's a triple-barrel shotgun, a deployable net for non-lethal combat, a pair of improved jet shoes, a giant Reaverbot arm, a cannon shaped like the Flutter, and more.

My favorite pick by far would have to be the extremely versatile Velocity Buster, which was demonstrated by a this pair of YouTube videos. It creates a green portal that greatly accelerates any object that passes through it. It can be used to jump higher, to launch enemies towards other enemies at lethal speeds, to enhance the effectiveness of other weapons, and so on. It's pretty sick!

Now, go out there and vote, guys!

Even more characters in that classic Bubble Bobble style

Well, my Monday is off to a good start. Yours will be too, if you liked Paul Robertson's Taito-style pixel art series. It continues with another hundred characters, viewable below. Without a doubt, my favorite this time around is the Cacodemon from Doom. It looks so friendly! Who's yours? 100 Taito style sprites part 3 [Paul Robertson]more

Farts 'N' Crafts: Watch Dogs Vs. Mortal Kombat Vs. Garfield

Here on Farts 'N' Crafts, we tackle a lot of hard-hitting issues. And by hard-hitting issues, I specifically mean "bodily fluids," which is almost ironic considering the show's title. We've done dog feces, we've gone hedgeho...more

All characters should be redone in the style of Bubble Bobble for maximum cuteness

Hamza and I are huge fans of Paul Robertson's pixel art and animation, though the same could be said of everyone here at Destructoid, I suspect. He's one of the best. Trips to Robertson's blog are always a treat, albeit for d...more
