Yeah, you read the headline right -- there's a Voltron mobile game available. Apparently, it's the 25th anniversary of the series, and Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has launched the title in celebration.
The game features six acts spread across 30 levels, as you command the lions through the galaxy to stop that fish-eared creep King Zarkon and his army. Yes, you can combine your lions and then unleash the Lion Saber, Blazing Sword, and more.
SPHE gave me a code to download the iPhone version today, and while I didn't have a chance to do much other than use the Black Lion to paw away rockets, I can confirm this: no other game is more awesome when paused and then unpaused than Voltron on the iPhone. This is a fact, and the above video is proof.
Voltron costs $3.99 on the iPhone, but is also available on other mobile devices for anywhere between $2.99 and $9.99. It's unclear if other versions have Voltron on the iPhone's awesome "unpause" sound effects, but one can only hope.
Aswome feature, reminds me of the load-game feature that Alone in the dark had on the 360 where every time you would load a previous game it gave you a summary of what had happened in the game from start to the point where you left off (all of it shown in a cool tv show kind of way). I could watch that for hours it was so awsome ;D
It's a good thing I'm getting an iTouch soon, because I now need this more than ever! Ah Voltron... I remember when they were running in the early morning on Adult Swim. Good times...
I was never really into Voltron, but this is my new favorite thing ever.
I actually do this for my DND (yes I'm a super-nerd) sessions. Once everyone settles in, I start off with a recap that always starts "when we last left our heroes...."

Ok, yeah, that's pretty sweet. But best pause moment in history? Maybe the best UNPAUSE moment, but no way the best pause moment. That title, my friends, lies with the glorious Battletoads.
I hope the game is enjoyable because this series is so very overrated, almost worse than Thundercats and the transformers cartoons. I can't stand to watch a single episode without feeling a very deep embarrassment for the mothers of those who were involved in the making of this crap.
