It’s not often that a non-high-profile videogame, especially a non-licensed title, will feature an A-list voice cast. But while The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon seems to have become lost in the shuffle of all the other triple-A releases this season (your Fables, your LittleBigPlanets, your Fallouts, etc.) -- if you look at Metacritic for the PS3, 360, and Wii versions, there’s only one review up at the moment -- the game employs a collection of top-tier voice talent. You can check out the wide range of said voice talent in the trailer above.
Voicing the title character, you have Frodo Bagg--uh, Elijah Wood. As for his magically linked co-op partner, Cynder, Kat Harv--I mean, Christina Ricci--does her voice-over. Then there’s Commissioner Gord--that is, Sirius Bla--dammit, it’s Gary Oldman who does the voice for Ignitus, a “sort of father figure” for Spyro. Hunter of Avalar (a cheetah who isn’t yet confirmed to be the same one from Spyro 2: Ripto’s Rage!) is voiced by Simon Eld--um, Blair Underwood. Finally, The Jok--wait, no, Luke Skywalk--er, Mark Hamill voices Malefor the Dark Master, while Wayne “choke a bitch” Brady provides the voice for Sparx, Spyro’s sassy dragonfly companion.
If that group of venerated voice actors doesn’t get you excited for The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon, then perhaps you’d be interested in a trailer that was posted a couple of weeks ago, or Hamza’s preview from April. If not, well, then, I don’t know what to tell you. Either way, I’m pumped to play the game, and I’ll be doing that soon for a Destructoid review -- so keep an eye out for that. For more information, head over to the game’s official Web site.
Still not as heroic as North though.
What accent? Am I missing something?
[sarcasm]
You haven't!? Where the hell have you been?
[/sarcasm]
I think the game looks sweet, and I can't wait to at least give it a shot.
Oh and ElijaH FTW
Seriously?!? You can't hear it? It's ever-so-slightly British. He's so smug.
Mmmmno. I think you're just trying to find an excuse to call someone pretentious.
I understand it's the trendy thing to say. It's the new "emo".
I didn't know this was out, looks damn impressive.
game looks pretty good nonetheless
The gameplay's a tad shakey, and the graphics aren't top notch, but there's so much to do in it. It feels like it'd take forever to find all the armor/experience/whatever and get maxed out. Plus you can "fly" pretty much whenever.
They couldn't have picked a worse time to release it - it could've been huge over the summer/fall drought...
Don't write it off, is all I'm saying.
