Sony has confirmed that all PlayStation Vita games will feature simultaneous launches of digital and retail games. This is yet another improvement over the failed PSPgo experiment, where some physical games would take weeks to reach the PSN, or sometimes never arrive at all.
According to Sony engineer Chris Norden, "PSN is supported from day one, right out of the box at launch." The Vita will be a bit more open than current home consoles too, with free-to-play business models supported by the system.
Norden also reconfirmed cross-game chat as an exclusive PS Vita feature, something that's still missing from the PlayStation 3 despite fan pressure.
"We know everybody wants it on PS3 so we're doing it on Vita," he said.
Did he just troll us? Well done, sir!

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
I mean nice and all but why for god's sake not doing it for the PS3 too?
Or do you want to keep that as a selling point for the PS4? Oh, good thinking there. And probably the controller for PS4 will be PSVitas Lite? ;P
It's a RAM limitation. The PS3 doesn't have enough RAM to support it. The Vita does.
I'd rather someone wake Dale up. At least he isn't inherently negative about anything Vita related.
Also isn't there some kind of patent preventing them from doing cross game chat on the PS3? Or was that music while gaming thing. i dunno.
There's obviously some major block on PS3 cross game chat, which doesn't bother me at all, i very very very rarely use it on my eggsbawks.
I can't even be bothered with negativity right now. Too excited about this marvelous piece of technological sex.
Everything about this article paints the Vita as being greater than whatever it's compared to.
You debbie downer
The fuck?
As i monkey, i take offence from that statement. Not all juice monkeys are pumped. Facist.

Not excite...
Mother fuck. So both handhelds are shit. YAY
Yeah, you're right.
I'm not as torn as others about the possibility to not be able to play PS one games on a Vita, but, yeah, this is definitely a disappointment.
I didn't think there'd be any problem, and having the two sticks back meant not having to compromise with games that offered simultaneous analog movement and d-pad use like Final Fantasy IX.
That PSP nub is -not- comfortable, especially when navigating game menus. It only lets you move in as many directions as a normal d-pad can handle instead of the full 360 degrees with a stick.
A: Users can play PSP titles, minis and PSone classics titles which are offered on PS Store. We do no have any plans to make PS Vita compatible with PS3 or PS2 titles at this point."

Sorry Sony....you've been burning your most loyal fans too often for us to put up with any of this BS anymore.
