Visions: The Christian MMORPG you never knew you needed photo

For many years, I have pondered my purpose on this small planet we call Earth. Now, by the grace of God, who loves me best of all His children, I know what I have been destined to do with my precious gift of life. I was put here as a prophet, as a spreader of the good word. I was put here to tell you about Visions, a Christian MMO that is in development right now and needs your help.

Visions is a "1st person 3D graphics MMORPG with a quest based and skill based gameplay in a persistent online world set in the 2nd century holy land." It's the ultimate Christian experience, and will innovate the world of computer games as we know it. Don't just take my word for it, even though I am basically like Jesus. Let's let the volunteer dev team tell you more:

By quest and skill based game we mean that the game mechanics are focused on interacting with the game world, and learning from a wide variety of skills for players to customize their character. Where most other online games have the play character kill a never ending hoard of enemies to gain experience and purchase levels from a trainer, Visions will have play characters learn their skills by completing quests, and then use their skills to improve their ability that skill. The skills they use the most will be the skills they are best at.

Doesn't it sound fantastic? Of course it f*cking does! Here's the rub though -- Very much like Heaven itself, you're only going to get into Visions if you pay vast sums of money. Visions needs over $58,000, pledged by fine folks such as yourselves, in order to get developed. So far, the team has raised a staggering $107. but they need your support. So please, pledge as much as you can.

I don't presume to speak for God (I prefer to think that they're God's words, just coming out of my mouth), but I will tell you this -- He will be very wroth with you and you will definitely go to Hell if you don't donate. Now for the love of Little Baby Jesus, go to this Web site and watch the video. It's a video that will change your life. Believe me.

I was really looking for a good Buddist FPS, to be honest. Christian MMOs are so "arm wavey"....

I think "Buddhist FPS" is a bit of a contradiction in terms, with the whole non-aggression policy.

I think you could have a Buddhist survival-horror game, as long as they fight monsters with sage wisdom and perhaps knocking them off-balance with a cushion.

Actually, I wouldn't mind seeing a game set in the 2nd century Holy Land. Of course, it would have to be GOOD, and given my people's public track record in the world of game design, my enthusiasm is pretty much nil.

I will, however, second the suspicion that it's just Dante's Inferno viral marketing.

Visions has been around forever, like elysee mentioned. I think I've even heard about it before Dante's Inferno went overboard with their marketing, as someone made a blog post about Visions a long while back.. So it's fo sho, not some marketing scheme for DI.

Eurgh, this really isn't helping the religion in the way they portray christianity and themselves in such a self-believing way. In the bible there was death and battles and violence so ignoring it is amusingly hypocritical for a start.

@ lazy trout.

I'll stop bashing Christians when they stop bashing, Gays, Blacks, Jews, Muslim, Asians, Hispanics, Anyone with a different thought pattern of their own. I'll also stop bashing Christians when they stop pestering me on the streets trying to convert me(Honestly I've never had Muslims knock on my door, only Chrstians or Jehovahs), when they apologize to Israel for what the Templar Knights did to their people(or the Crusades in general), and when they learn to accept all kinds of music. That's when I'll stop.

Man I loved that video I think it has one of the most bad ass soundtracks around, and I have to say the level design really got across to me the inhospitable place that earth once was, all lifeless and gray with nothing happening, this is the future of game design right here but I would not expect anything less after all they have God on their side

Jim, you forgot to mention that, not only do they need that absurd amount of money, but they hope to make it in 1 week of donations.

lol

I could only see a mormon or scientologist MMO receiving that kind of donations, these devs chose the wrong religion.

@Steel Brotha

so bashing Christians because they stereotypically bash other people magically makes it OK? I know lots of Christians who don't adhere to the negative stereotypes that people hold about them. If you don't want people to bash you, maybe your first step should be to not bash others.

I mean, just saying.

No. This can't be legit. It just can't. There's no way.

If it IS legit, EA could turn it into the biggest Dante's Inferno viral ad yet by offering to donate the $60K these guys are asking for. How interesting would that be if they actually took the money?
