Visceral answers your Dead Space 2 questions photo

Dead Space 2 executive producer Steve Papoutsis at Visceral Games wanted to know what people were looking for in the follow-up, and now he's answered the more intriguing questions to the best of his ability. No real plot spoilers, so you can relax.

In reference to a question about a co-op system being implemented in the game, he says the team recognizes that there is "a big split" in the community on that issue, but doesn't comment either way. My suggestion? Make co-op completely separate from the campaign, if it all.

Having protagonist Isaac Clarke talk in this sequel will be a focus, as will fully utilizing his background in engineering. Although, according to Papoutsis, the man won't be dropping any "corny one-liners."

I'm really hopeful Dead Space 2 will impact me in the same way Aliens did. Alien was this phenomenal film that I adored, but then I saw Aliens, and it opened up this entire world of cool new ideas and fiction. That said, going too far into action territory (RE5) is not what I'm looking for. Give me nightmares, guys!

Dead Space 2? Great
Isaac talking? Sure why not.
Co-op? Dont know how I feel about that...

I do agree with one of the suggestions... Melee finishers, awesome.

Dead Space was such an amazing game. Tons of little problems with the PC port couldn't stop me from playing it through in a few days and loving every moment.

There is a real danger this one will go too far into action territory in order to gain new fans like Resident Evil did. I can only hope this is not the case.

***SPOILER***

The ending of Dead Space 1 kinda had me thinking Isaac wouldn't be around for a sequel. I will be interested to see how they explain it all.

Well, there's a lot of possibility that was simply a hallucination.

@aaronf: it was a hallucination brought on by the destruction of the marker. Hence the unitology script on the screen when it happens.

The Dead Space 2/Aliens remark sums up my feelings perfectly! Well said!

Issac Clarke the new Ellen Ripley?

Hell yes.

Awww, they never showed him getting killed. I hoped in the sequel it would take place at that exact second where Issac grabs his dead GF face as she lept at him, and then he slams it into the dashboard exploding her head on impact.

Also, my money's on storyline integrated co-op with Lexine Murdoch as the second player.
And if this is the case, I will have mixed feelings towards it.

Otherwise, I'm really feeling DS2. From the looks of it all, it sounds mindblowing.

Dead space with co-op. It would be nice but it would be less scary and there's the chance of being an absolute dick. But it would be a fun experiance none the less.

Isaac Clarke waited. The lights above him blinked and sparked out of the air. There were necromorphs in the Ishimura. He didn't see them, but had expected them now for years. His warnings to Daniels were not listenend to and now it was too late. Far too late for now, anyway.
Isaac was a space engineer for fourteen years. When he was young he watched the spaceships and he said to dad "I want to be on the ships daddy."
Dad said "No! You will BE KILL BY NECROMORPHS"
There was a time when he believed him. Then as he got oldered he stopped. But now in the space station base of the Ishimura he knew there were necromorphs.
"This is is Zach Hammond" the radio crackered. "You must fight the necromorphss!"
So John gotted his palsma cuter and blew up the wall.
"HE GOING TO KILL US" said the necromorphs
"I will shoot at him" said the hivemind and he fired the rocket missiles. Isaac plasmaed at him and tried to blew him up. But then the ceiling fell and they were trapped and not able to kill.
"No! I must kill the necromorphs" he shouted
The radio said "No, Isaac. You are the necromorphs"
And then Isaac was a necromorph.

More scares, less straight up action. I thought the first game had a decent balance, but if Dead Space=Resident Evil 4, then hopefully Dead Space 2 does not equal Resident Evil 5.

Don't get me wrong, Dead Space 2 co-op would probably all kinds of fun. RE5, while not in the least bit scary (except for maybe those huge dudes with tribal masks) was a total blast co-op. And then Mercenaries mode was even more fun yet.

Problem is, we don't have enough horror games, but have plenty of action games. Let's keep Dead Space creepy, is what I'm getting at.

Someone should keep reminding them not to deviate from the things that made Dead Space awesome. I'm sure they're doing their best, but it's worth a try!

really wish developers would stop bolting on uneeded multiplayer. It's gonna be a ghost town after three days, when everyone of those fickle morons who only buy games with a MP element, no matter how bolted on, go back to playing halo and COD.
