Virtual popstar Hatsune Miku pops up in Left 4 Dead mod photo
  share: Twitter Facebook Reddit Digg
filed under: #Mods

If you pay attention to what's going on in the import world, you probably already know that rhythm game fans have been losing their minds over Sega's Project Diva, the recent release starring virtual popstar Hatsune Miku. Japan has been obsessed with the character for some time now, and there's even a version of 4chan dedicated solely to her (yep, you guessed it -- Mikuchan).

We spotted a couple of pictures of a Left 4 Dead mod there, starring Miku herself wielding some wicked looking guns. A user on the Mikuchan website made the mod himself, and is still working on it. If you hit the jump, you can see another video he made where Miku is actually The Witch (warning, it gets bloody!). Unfortunately, there's no information about actually downloading this mod, but if you keep an eye on the thread hopefully we'll find a way to do it eventually.

[Thanks, Saku!]

Huh, vid gives me "Invalid Parameters" for some reason. Oh well.

I don't get what the big draw is for Miku, but I guess you know you're popular when you start appearing in custom content in genres you wouldn't even touch with a ten-foot pole. XD

God damn you Vocaloid! No mascot should be more popular than the product itself! But shit, that was freaky making her the witch.

Somebody also recreated the Aliens Pluse Rifle. Here: http://www.fpsbanana.com/skins/67789

I'm not gonna install it because Left4Dead skins are like a fucking math quiz.

I will never understand any of this. It's not even a real anime. Stop treating it like one.

@The Excel -- I enjoy it, so I'll treat it however I like, thanks very much. Considering 101,000 copies of the PSP game were sold the first week, I think I'm probably not alone, either.

I was under the impression that it was an anime. Then I decided to do some research and was highly disappointed that the reason I couldn't find any episodes was because it's a text-to-speech program. I never woulda guessed.

@The-Excel

Lesson learned. Research = good, Jumping the gun = bad.

Also, = $.

To be fair, "research" at the time meant seeing it all over anime forums and not being into that kind of thing.

@The-Excel

I suppose a google search was asking too much?

But here, Let me google that for you.

See the thing is that I didn't have a reason to look anything up. I just saw a few anime characters and the word "Vocaloid" associated with them and that was it. I saw these on anime forums, not text-to-speech forums. Whatever it was about, it didn't interest me. One day I decided to see what it was all about and looked for video. Until recently I assumed it was just licensed.

The important thing is that you learned.

The more you know.

@s0lesurviv0r There's actually a Taokaka mod that's been released, but it's not a L4D mod. It's armor for the Elder Scrolls: Oblivion. It's pretty cool looking too tbh. And also, this mod is fantastic.

I have absolutely no idea what any of the boards on mikuchan are about. The on-topic ones, anyway.
