Virtua Fighter 5 no longer a PS3 exclusive ... oh the humanity photo

Exclusives are quickly disappearing at a fast and furious pace and the latest to flee this world is SEGA's Virtua Fighter 5, which was slated to come out originally only for the PlayStation 3. Now, however, the game is going to come out late next summer for the Xbox 360. Certainly a huge fighting franchise, losing exclusivity of it is a big deal, or at least should be to Sony. SEGA sent this press release this morning:

SEGA® of America, Inc. and SEGA Europe Ltd. today announced that the highly anticipated arcade fighting game, Virtua Fighter™ 5, will make its way onto the Xbox 360™ video game and entertainment system. Virtua Fighter 5 is scheduled for release on Xbox 360 in North America and in Europe late summer 2007. The game will also be available for the PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system on February 20, 2007 in North America and will be available in Europe simultaneously with the system's launch in March 2007.

With less and less exclusives, what's gonna keep this Sony boat afloat?

Sony get owned yet again. All we need is MGS4 and Devil May Cry 4 and were set.

Whoop whoop. I dont even like Virtual Fighter. What makes it so unique than other fighters??? MK had fatalities, SFighter had unique characters and was brilliant for it's time, and DOA (my favorite) has counters. I dont get it.

Robert Summa whats your Gamertag for 360? Everytime I click an editors name or anything related it takes me to thier blogs, not info.

If anyone else wants to get spanked in Gears of War or DOA 4, gimme a ring.

Cool; bring the madness Summa. I want chaos on the battle field. I was trying to get Neiro too, just to see how good you guys actually were.

Like I said I dont care for VF, but Im glad more exclusives will come to the 360. Anyone care to tell me why VF is the ish? Looks like a polygon orgy when I see people playing the original...

wow, sony's going down fast. why would anyone want to buy the ps3? you can get games on par on or better on other systems without putting down $600. also the other systems have much more exclusives. it looks like the ps3 will go the way of the psp. in other words, nothing exclusive or special about it. what if i don't want to pay for blu-ray? my dvd's at home work perfectly fine. and i love virtua fighter. for real fight fans, its probably the best fighting game. i'm getting sick of this MK shit.

Hey Sony, Sega wants to know if you'd want a Hertz Donut?

i had an idea it would happen, the only reason for the quick ps3 adaption was similar hardware between arcade and ps3..... they have stated a 360 version would take longer

the only exclusive things nowadays from third party devs are maybe the few months you get...

i don't think it hurts a system as much as the people ranting on forums/blogs that hate the system want you to think... and i think with MS and Sony doing more in-house games they will still offer plenty of reasons for people to own all systems

JamesSorensen, I'm going to say this once more. SONY AND MICROSOFT DON'T MAKE GAMES. There. They do have second party developers that make games for them, but they don't have an 'in house' development team like Nintendo does. That said, Microsoft has a lot more second party developers than Sony, so Sony still has much fewer games to rely on.

Yet another reason for me not to buy a PS3. I was planning on selling my guitar and paintball gun to get a 60gb system once they're more readily available, but at this point, I see no reason to "invest" in one. The only exclusives left that need to go multi-platform are MGS4 and DMC4. Once they leave, the PS3 might as well give up. Maybe Sony will turn into Sega and just handle software...(yeah, there's less than a snowball's chance, but a man can dream...)

With this gone the only two things that look to prop up the PS3 are Square's FFXIII and Konami's MGS4, and Ive heard rumors about both being put on the 360 at some point, even if they've been dispelled later.

I'm not really surprised. Publishers just aren't going to have the target audience they were expecting the PlayStation brand to produce. If they want to make money, they cannot produce games exclusively for the PS3. It just doesn't have the marketshare, and won't for the forseeable future.

Also "less and less exclusives" -- come on. "Fewer and fewer".

Well I've bought two ps2's in the span of like 6 years because they broke but I had to replace my xbox 360 three times within the span of like three months.

okay now there is no reason to gamble on a Playstation 3...
with no games and a BLueRay format that could die out.

i can wait til late 2007 and wait and see if more titles appear on PS3 and if this Sony format will survive at all...
HD-DVD is outselling it right now 3-1

if Konami/Metal Gearports to X360
and
if Namco/Tekken leave Sony, it's GAME OVER

In arcades here and I can tell you its fun. Onl problem is all the Japanese players have monthes more experience playing the game so they always kick ass.

This being on 360 makes me want a PS3 les actually. I'm a devout Virtua Fighter fan and it pleases me to see I have to spend less money to get the same game.

Good news for 360 owners. Too bad Microsoft insists on using that God-damned circular D-pad... If you can stand using it then more power to ya.
