Mark your calenders, folks! Vigilante 8: Arcade is coming to Xbox Live Arcade this Spring from the guys who brought you the original V8. It's a "re-imagining" of the car-wrecking series that features brand new content, including online multiplayer for up to 8 players.

Even though I haven't played Vigilante 8 before, I'm really looking forward to this one, if only because there aren't a whole lot of other fantastic Live Arcade games on the horizon, and I enjoy watching things explode. Are you guys ready to blow sh*t up too?

More info after the break.

Here's a slew of features that'll be crammed into Vigilante 8: Arcade. Giddy up!

  • • Five newly designed, highly interactive arenas, using Bezier patch technology for maximum surface smoothness!
  • • Eight gorgeous, highly varied ‘70s vehicles, rendered using advanced metallic shaders at 10,000+ polygons each
  • • Classic V8 character personas and unique special weapons
  • • Six standard weapon pick-ups with three advanced attacks each, featuring both ‘classic’ (combo) and ‘casual’ (charge-up) input methods
  • • Multiple collectible power-ups and ‘salvage points’
  • • User-customizable car paint color
  • • Advanced car physics for hyper-semi-realism and ultra high replay value — easy to pick up, difficult to master!
  • • Spectacular pyrotechnic, destruction effects, and physics-driven interactive hazards
  • • Single player modes against advanced bot AI
  • • Local split-screen modes up to four players
  • • Online multiplayer with up to eight human players
  • • Voice and (hopefully) camera support
  • • Leaderboards, achievements, unlockable secrets, and more!
  • • Free and premium extra downloadable content planned…

Oddly enough, Vigilante 8: Second Offense should be arriving at my house from Goozex any day now. Coincidence? I think not.

Grim: Please don't judge the original on that poor sequel. I loved Vigilante 8, but barely played Second Offense.

This is going to be awesome though. More games around this generation should be remade for the XBLA.

Side note: No PSN love?

I remember playing the crap out of the Demo for Vigilante 8 on my Playstation Underground disc way back in the PS1 days...

I wonder if I'll have as much fun playing this one.

Really looking forward to this, especially with the online-play. I'm also looking forward to what Topher has to say about it on the RFGO after it's release.

This will definitely be my first purchased XBLA game. That is unless they release Ikaruga first - because I've been wanted that for SO long.

Personally I love "Free extra content planned." But yeah this is great for us 360 owners as the ps3 has been playing Jaffe's game for awhile now.

I think V8 can go head to head with Twisted Metal anyday. Way better physics, much more akin to Interstate 76 (which makes sense, same developers).

Can I still load the unlockable UFO from my PSX memory card?

Fun Fact: The bus in Vigilante 8 was originally a school bus (there were screenshots released way back when), but they changed it before release because they were afraid of the possible parent backlash.

@GuitarAtomik: Wasn't it still a school bus in the first one? I know the cover still shows a school bus. I'll have to check out the game next time I'm rummaging through my PSX collection.

Also, this game was fun back the day, but I dunno if it will stand the test of time that TM has.
