Resident Evil HD causes night terrors, sandwiches photo
Resident Evil HD causes night terrors, sandwiches
by Steven Hansen

I had a real weird night with Resident Evil HD.

It's continuing as I look for screens to use as thumbnail images and stumble upon nude, pregnant Jill mods for Resident Evil 4. And here I thought I was making questionable use of my time.

Samus and Sagat unbox Guilty Gear X3d -SIGN- Limited Edition

Some people say GG is the best thing in gaming today. Others say it's all flash and no substance, existing to drawing attention to itself and nothing more. No, I'm not talking about that GG. I'm talking about Guilty Gear, th...

ArenaNet unveils Guild Wars 2's first expansion, Heart of Thorns photo
ArenaNet unveils Guild Wars 2's first expansion, Heart of Thorns
by Chris Carter

Guild Wars 2 is a pretty great MMO. It's buy-to-play, which means you have to purchase the initial package first, then there's no subscription fees or nasty progression-hindering microtransactions. You buy the game, and it feels like a full game.

Over the past few years though I feel like I've done everything that interests me personally, so I'm glad that developer ArenaNet just announced the expansion Heart of Thorns, that will be playable at PAX East this year. It will take place in a jungle-heavy realm, and will allow players to earn new skills, as well as access new "Specializations" that entail cool new abilities like hang gliding.

The main draw is the brand new storyline, which will have players go up against the elder dragon Mordremoth. New maps, another competitive mode, Guild Halls, and extra world events will also await.

Oh, and the base game is $10 temporarily.

Jessica Nigri is the new voice of Super Sonico

Jessica Nigri first showed up on my radar after she cosplayed Curly Brace from Cave Story. Applying that level of detail and craftsmanship to a relatively obscure character is the sign of a cosplayer who isn't in it jus...

The return of news on Dtoid's YouTube channel? Lets start with Pokkén Tournament

Today was a pretty huge day for Destructoid. One of the founding fathers of the website returned to the fold and swiftly kicked NBA2K15 in the nuts. We reviewed the New 3DS with lukewarm appreciation, tempered with the ...

Beard View impressions of Puzzle & Dragons Z on 3DS photo
Beard View impressions of Puzzle & Dragons Z on 3DS
by Jonathan Holmes

When Nintendo announced the New Super Mario Bros. version of Puzzle & Dragons for the 3DS, reports came in that their stock values skyrocketed. Puzzle & Dragons is a huge hit on mobile devices in Japan, much like Candy Crush and Angry Birds are in the United States. While the series needs no introduction in its home country, the rest of the world might need a little more information on Puzzle & Dragons before we get too excited about it. Good thing we have Jed from Beard View to help us understand what this Pokemon meets Bejeweled-style union of mass compulsion is all about.

Beard View is a new series from Dtoid and DimmuJed that offers impressions of games that many of us know of but have never been able to play. We're starting off with Japanese 3DS games, but we could go anywhere from there. If you have games that you've only heard about but have never gotten to see for yourself, let us know and we'll try to get them on Beard View

While you're at it, let me know what you think of the Beard View theme song. Like with opening number for Amber's Unboxing Series, it's all my fault.

Mahjong Pretty Girls Battle is authentic mahjong, but with sexy anime girls

Pikachu, Suicune, and Gardevoir announced for Pokkén Tournament photo
Pikachu, Suicune, and Gardevoir announced for Pokkén Tournament
by Jonathan Holmes

[Update: Embedded the full stream below. Also, GoNintendo rounded up more info on how the game plays, including details on how the 3-Axis movement works, how you can guard attacks from any height with the same button, and more. This definitely isn't just Tekken with the Pokémon brand slapped on it.]

A load of new Pokkén Tournament info just aired on Japanese TV and the Internet is currently scrambling to keep up. Series mascot Pikachu, legendary beast Suicune and Destructoid favorite Gardevoir have joined Lucario and Machamp as announced playable characters. Gen-5 starter Snivy, Gen-6 started Fennekin, "flying Pikachu" Emolga and "boat with a face" Lapras are in the game as non-playable support characters.

We've also learned more about how the game will control. You won't need a fight stick for this one, folks. In fact, you could probably play Pokkén Tournament with an SNES pad and not suffer any loss of precision. The game has a unique controller that only utilizes a d-pad (movement), L (support) and R (guard) shoulder buttons, and A (Pokémon attack), B (jump), X (weak attack) and Y (strong attack) face buttons for inputs. Sounds like a perfect fit for just about any Wii U compatible controller, don't you think?

The game will go on location test in select Japanese arcades starting January 30, so if you live out that way, give the game a spin and write about it in our community blogs. We may just put your story on the front page.
