Videogames get a 'boot to the head'
Destructoid has some of the best readers in the gaming universe, and just to show how much the staff here at Dtoid loves you, we've decided to give you all ... a boot to the head. Back in 1986, a Canadian comedy troop called The Frantics started the "boot to the head" joke, and now gamers are getting in on the joke with World of Warcraft and Phoenix Wright machinima. Above is the Phoenix Wright version of "A Boot to the Head" by The Frantics Hit the jump for the WoW version of "Ti Kwan Leep," also by The Frantics. Did you know? You can now get daily or weekly email notifications when humans reply to your comments.
Legacy Comments (will be imported soon)Wow, didn't know anyone knew about The Frantics south of the border. Check out Mr. Canoehead too. Classic.
How's it going eh? I think all that money left to the people of Calgary worked - Alberta has the best economy in Canada and tons of high paying jobs. The guys who did the 8-bit D&D (with the Dead Ale Wives) did that Boot to the Head flash animation, I believe. I didn't think it was that funny, but the Ace Attorney dub was very well done.
Do Canadians pronounce Calgary like "Cal Gary"? I always pronounced it like it's one word. Some people out west somewhere pronounce it 'Cal Gary', but the majority of normal, not weirdos pronounce it Calgary, as it should be. I'm so old, I have both these sketches on cassette tape that I recorded off the Dr. Demento show back in 87. I wonder if they still work or if I can find them anymore. Guess I don't have too now, Boot to the Head, always a favorite, right up there with Existential Blues. Man, I grew up on these jokes, riding in my dad's cab in downtown Hamilton Ontario. These, Moxy Fruvious, king missle (go detachable penis!) and all the other late 70's, early 80's comedy troups. It's so refreshing to see their work making it back out into the main stream... now if they could only be compensated so they could do MORE work that people could rip off and use as base material when they aren't funny on their own.... (not sure if i'm sarcastic today, or just... grrrr... ya know?) 11:30 AM on 05.02.2013 Videogame art show parties hit New York and Toronto[Snake and Spider-Man by Reyyy] The good people at Attract Mode have not one, but two big gallery shows for you to have.
