According to Big Brother psychologist Dr. Linda Papadopoulos, videogames are playing an unsavory role in the sexualization of children. Her comments come several weeks ahead of a government report in the UK focusing on how media sexually affects youngsters.
According to a Telegraph article on the subject, Papadopoulos "criticised computer games containing highly sexual content, such as Miss Bimbo, in which girls compete to accumulate boob jobs in order to marry a billionaire." The Telegraph also claims that the government report will explain how "children are being sexualized from an increasingly early age by computer games, pornography and sex-related slogans."
Frankly, I don't think somebody involved with reality television like Papadopoulos has any right to criticize another medium, considering they've sunk about as low as entertainment can go, but that's just me. As for the report, we'll have to wait and see what it says, but my Uncle Reg is very interested to see what it says.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Really? Games are doing this?
Out of all the games she could have chosen as an example, she picks one nobody has ever heard of about getting boob jobs and catching millionaires. I wonder what an ACTUAL psychologist would make of that.
It's a word used by things like the Daily Mail to describe what happens when kids watch TV and play with plastic toys.
I think in this context, it means that kids are being exposed to sexual and risqué material, and as a result they're having sex at younger ages, dressing "sexier", and are more aware of sex in general.
I'm wondering that myself. Children are already sexualized - we're sexual beings. I like how this person seems to think every video game playing household has a copy of Miss Bimbo. I've never even heard of that game and I guarantee you almost no one owns it. This is like claiming film and photography is child abuse because child pornography exists.
Soo...they made it up? That's what I thought.
Yeah Ms. Wutsurface. You can't make shit up and then pull an argument out of your ass. Sorry.
You'd better off discovering the most natural human behavior ever than being an ignorant cunt and have children at 16 years old... OH WAIT!
What so wrong about sex anyway?! I don't get it.
She has a point, but the game is far from the mainstream. If it were being sold in Wal-Mart, then there would be a legitimate complaint. However, it's not, so STFU.
It's not TV reality shows or sex ed taught to kindergartners. It's a five year old French game which most kids get bored with in less than a week. This is pathetic.
Why is the UK terrorized by the fascist morale guardians? These people have been bouncing around trying to control culture over there for almost 30 years.
I dunno. As pointed out (and something I was getting at with my first post) we're already sexual creatures. Kids already get aroused to some extent when they see an attractive person.
All visual depictions of sex do is tell you is which hole the dick goes into. I can almost assure you upon first sight few kids would ever actually want to try that.
I sometimes wonder if these people remember what being a kid was like. When I first saw an uncensored sex scene I was mortified. I wasn't curious in the least bit. I was perfectly content with just sitting and looking for a few more years.
We need to stop threating children like their complete fuckign idiots incapable of logical thoughts. Yet the essential problem in our society is bad parenting. RAISE YOUR FUCKING KIDS GODDAMNIT!
@Carl Sagan : Pretty much really.

Please, watch more reality TV.
The more you know!
