i could really give a damn about HDMI but that freaking bigger HD is sweet.

If they do, it won't be for a while. The Wii isn't aimed at high-def gamers anyway, so I wouldn't imagine that Nintendo would be in any great rush to jump on the bandwagon.
If they were that concerned, the Wii would have had high-def capability built-in. It's not like it's something that's only appeared in the last couple of months.

I can’t stop thinking this is a bad and a good move. And this info being leaked is something bad for MS unless they release this new Xbox soon.
I bought my 360 at the beginning of the last year and no matter what people say, I feel like I am being punished for that.
The good part of this, on a less personal level, is that if they release this new system at a similar price of the first one, Sony will have to be ready and do something to fight back. They are not going to loose big time, fans will always be fans, and gamers will always be gamers and I know we will try to play each and every game while our wallets let us; but they will be hurt in the casual market, if they didn't lost it already.
Why did I say that MS should release this model soon? Because until this thing is on the shelves "old" 360s will not be sold, people looking for a 360 will just wait for the Zephyr. Who wouldn’t? Better micro, bigger HDD and HDMI, for the same price or close.
A day before I saw the first new about the Zephyr here, a friend of mine said something along the lines of: "They will probably launch Halo 3 in HDDVD so gamers and not only movie fans would buy it". While I told him that MS said that HDDVD games where not a goal, this new thing makes me think that MS will pull something similar with the HDMI ready 360. I am not talking about you having to buy it to play Halo 3 but a common release date will surely boost the sales, specially if Halo 3 is 1080p ready.

I don't know why people are confirming any of this yet though. It would be logical to do it for a couple of reasons, but it would be dumb for a couple of other reasons. Any of the photos and videos could all be test units. Just because M$ has some models on the 360 in rotation that have HMDI doesn't mean that they are going to release it.

none of those pictures show the HDMI output on the motherboard, just a silver box from the back side which could look the same. But I would say that its not a mod.

yeah, M$ might announce something at CES but who knows. They might wait a couple more weeks. the 360 sold like crazy over the holiday season and they want that to continue.

I find it hard to believe a site like xbox-scene would get a scoop like this. engadgeet was at least plausible.

Just to toss this up. I know HDMI supports video+audio, but doesn't dvi only support video? And if it does, who the hell wants the system to not support hdmi+optical out? I play my xbox on my lcd monitor and it has shit for speakers, so instead I pipe my audio through my pc to my pc speakers.

I'm going to say that this xbox is modded with the hdmi cable. I'd also say that if MS was going to go with a digital out solution then they'll just use the same physical port with an adapter that you can buy to hook up an HDMI cable along with the option to hook up an optical audio cable. That's just my guess.

I don't think this is a mod. Microsoft may have only made these as test units that they may never actually sell to retail, but I really don't think this is a mod.

you probably won't get a new one anyways. If they overheat they take yours and send you a refurbished one i believe. But good luck with that. Do you really need an HDMI cable that bad?

come to think of it have something better than hdmi and thats my vga so wont bother me at all and i got my 360 for $300 with a free copy of gears
