WHAT A GREAT DEAL THIS TOTALLY ISN'T KILLING THE VIDEO GAME INDUSTRY
But they know people will buy it anyway
OH BUT WE WANT DEVS AND PUBLISHERS TO HOLD OUR HANDS AND BABY US AND SELL THINGS TO US FOR CHEAP SO WE WON'T FEEL BACKSTABBED DURRR.
That, and implying that people can't accept other people and their pursuit of C.R.E.A.M. and like to make irrational excuses on how this is apparently hurting the industry, when in reality you just don't want people to support this genre.
actually I pretty much hate all DLC because I do think it is hurting the video game industry (killing the game industry is an exaggeration). This is just among the worst offenders.
How is this killing the game industry? The people who want the map packs buy it. Their pricing obviously isn't hurting their sales. Also instead of breaking the pricing down into percentages, think of buying the disc as being a club (pay to get in) and then get gouged on drink prices.
As in: NOT AT ALL!
Forgive me llort het for I know not what I do.
It's killing the game industry because it's a slippery slope. First they sell maps, then they'll sell weapons that give people an unfair advantage in multiplayer, then they'll sell stuff that was originally in the game, then finally it'll reach the point where they're selling clothes.
Wait, all of these things have already happened.
That the way it sounds. If anything dlc compensates for all the slimey fucks that have pirated the initial software. That stategy may "hurt" the consumer being nickled and dimed, but in the end it all comes around to piracy being at fault. Shit, if not piracy then capitalism exploiting mindless, compulsary consumerism would be next place to lay blame.
Bullshit, that doesn't compensate for anything. All it does it treat paying customers like criminals even more than before. Asking people to spend another $7-10 (EA does this all the time) on games that they just paid $60 for is only driving even more people towards piracy.
This is not for any of us, it's not for blog readers and forum dwellers.
It's for casuals who buy a CoD and a Madden/Fifa every year and call themselves gamers.
Move along, nothing to see here.
