You are programming gods. I am not worthy! :)
"John Carmack is like John Romero but more of a bitch."
You watch your whore fucking mouth!
Gameplay wise, looks a lot cooler than I expected, like a Borderlands/Fallout mix with amazing gunplay. Not sold on the car combat though.
Was I the only person who thought, "Why is he running up those steps to kill those guys? That's where he STARTED the level!"
Respect anyway.
I'm not entirely sure about the multiplayer, but we'll see when I get my hands on it.
They say "totally new thing" but I just only see a brown FPS.
They are thousands of those.
That's ok though. Not many companies ever will. It's debatable whether or not anyone will.
I hope Raven uses id tech 5 to build a sequel to Hexen. Hell, anyone could make a magic/fantasy FPS with a horror setting and I'd be happy.
If it ends up being well designed and polished, I'll be happy. The enemies look kind of lame, though. I hate a lot of melee opponents in FPS games, because running backwards is boring. Part of the reason I gave up on BulletStorm was the completely pattern-based approach to enemy AI. Want to impress me with a FPS? Smart enemy AIs go a lot farther than mega-textures.
me - I BET IT IS ANOTHER SORT OF SCI-FI, HORRORISH FPS GAME!
id - All right, who broke the embargo!
There is absolutely nothing about their game or engine that is "revolutionary". It's an awesome looking engine and it looks like a very sweet game, yes. But you shoot, interact with NPCs, collect items, improve your skills and drive a vehicle. Not exactly a revolution in gaming. The only real difference is you'll be doing it with nice textures at 60fps.
If they want to revolutionize, then they need to work on movement, interaction, gameplay mechanics, characters and story. Make us CARE about what we are doing. Too many games focus on shooty and pretty, and it creates fun, but ultimately shallow, gaming experiences.
Graphics has become something we EXPECT to be fantastic. Your fancy graphics are not impressing us anymore. Sorry, id.
They have not even played it.
Just because it's not from fanboy favorites Valve or Crytek?
I haven't seen any new gameplay mechanics but the post apocalyptic setting with a little bit of western flair is pretty cool in my opinion. But yeah, it's graphics, again, and not really something new.
The funny thing is, the games you have listed are pretty much games for children. Well maybe not Metroid but the rest. Nowadays 'Mature' rated titles are the majority and I don't think that's really a good thing.
