Video: Inside the mind of a Team Fortress 2 soldier

6:32 PM on 08.22.2007, Jordan Grim Devore 62 comments

     PS3
Can a trailer for a video game actually be funny? If the writers for Team Fortress 2 have anything to say about it, then yes, yes it can. From “COPYRIGHT LOLOLOL” to the wonderful body explosions to the soldier’s crazed battle cry, this trailer delivers the goods.

Hopefully there will be more of these videos to come, but if not, gameplay footage would be just fine. I’m not sure about the rest of you, but Team Fortress 2 is going to be one of those games that can revive my inner PC gamer. Who’s with me?

Can someone clarify something for me?

If I buy The Orange Box for the 360 WILL it come with HL2, HL2 Ep 1 and the rest of the new stuff? Or is the addition of HL2/HL2 Ep 1 coming only with the PC? On their site it says everything, but it doesn't clarify if that's just PC or 360 or what.

This game looks awesome, but I'm not "reviving" my inner PC gamer. I love PC gaming. I don't even own a next-gen console, just my DX 10 PC. I have to agree with Bahamut Zero, I love Gametap and Steam too. I just beat Hitman: Blood Money for the PC on Gametap and I've pre-ordered World in Conflict Collector's Edition. Don't talk about "reviving" PC gaming anymore please. It's getting annoying.

@Deus

I'm not saying that PC gaming is dead or even dying for that matter. It's just that there haven't been many PC games in the last 6 months or so that have looked amazing to me (sorry C&C3). I have Gametap, but I hardly use the service at all compared to the amount of time I spend playing console games. It's just the way I am.

So when I say that this game will revive that side of me, I mean that TF2 is one of the first kick ass games to come out of this drought that I actually want to buy. You said that you do not own any consoles, so I'm sure you feel the complete opposite (about the lack of PC games).
DeusPayne's Avatar
DeusPayne at 08/22/2007 20:13
Indeed, sorry C&C3. And Bioshock gets a huge thumbs down on the PC release, so it'll just sit in the 360 corner. Half-life and it's related games are the main drive for my PC gaming these days. Episode 2, TF2, Portal. It's going to be a fun day when valve releases the Orange Box. But until then, my 360 is picking up the slack.

Grenades are still in the game... they're just not available at the press of a button like in the first game.

They must be selected as a weapon and no other gun can be fired while you're throwing it.

And the soldier/demo-man does have grenades while others don't.

You can't imagine all the bitching and moaning that came from the Fortress Forever camp about this 'massive unbalancing'. The game will be so much better than their silly mod, it won't even be funny.

SO FULL OF WIN.

The Soldier was my favorite class in TFC.

I had enjoyed the Heavy short immensely and that had swayed my opinion for a little while. While I still think the Heavy is awesome, seems the Soldier will still be my go-to choice.

I cannot wait.

I'm definitely getting this for the PC over the 360 if only for the fact that the PC will have player support for up to 32 people while the 360 will be capped at 16. Plus the whole mouse, keyboard setup.

The Orange Box for 360 comes with HL2, HL2 Episodes 1 & 2, Team Fortress 2, and Portal all for $60. Probably the best value EVAR!

Thanks man, you're teh awesome. Seriously, that's a fuckin' ridiculously good deal. I wouldn't mind playing through HL2 again on the 360 just for kicks and continue with Ep 1 and Ep 2. I'd imagine all of this would have to come on at least 2 discs.
