Video Games Live coming to a venue near you (unless you happen to be me) photo

Ever since we were privy to the spectacle that is Video Games Live at this year's Game Developer's Conference, I've been dying to see it again, so when a press release from co-creator Tommy Tallarico hit the Destructobox earlier today claiming 25 new concerts around the world had been announced, I screamed the scream of the pleased! Then, after having read the release and realizing none of the shows happen to occur in Portland, Oregon, I screamed the scream of the dismayed and woke up my dog.

To quote the Press Release, here's the list of upcoming shows:

Buffalo, NY - October 14, 2007 - Kleinhans Music Hall - Buffalo Philharmonic
Los Angeles, CA - October 19, 2007 - Nokia Theatre - E for All Expo
London, England - October 22, 2007 - Royal Festival Hall - London Games Festival
Columbia, MO - October 28, 2007 - Jessie Auditorium - University of Missouri
Calgary, Canada - November 9, 2007 - Jack Singer Hall - Calgary Philharmonic
Calgary, Canada - November 10, 2007 - Jack Singer Hall - Calgary Philharmonic
Orlando, FL - January TBA, 2008 - TBA - Otronicon
St. Louis, MO - January 26, 2008 - Fox Theater -
FT. Wayne, IN - February 15, 2008 - Embassy Theatre - Ft. Wayne Phil
Milwaukee, WI - March 1, 2008 - Riverside Theater - Milwaukee Symphony
Phoenix, AZ - March 7, 2008 - Maricopa Center - Phoenix Symphony
Ogden, UT - March 27, 2008 - Browning Arts Center - Utah Symphony
Salt Lake City, UT - March 28, 2008 - Abravanel Hall - Utah Symphony
Salt Lake City, UT - March 29, 2008 - Abravanel Hall - Utah Symphony
Austin, TX - July 11, 2008 - Long Center
Austin, TX - July 12, 2008 - Long Center

So, Ogden, Utah gets a show, and somehow I don't? I knew the Mormons had pull, but short of strong-arm tactics by Zombie Joseph Smith, I'm baffled by this apparent coup.

Hit the jump for the Release in its entirety.

Yep, I'm going to the Columbia, Missouri show. I live on campus anyway, it's very convenient. Any other Dtoid members in the area should meet up with me.

Sucks to be you.

yea Vancity, w00t! I went to their first show ever here in Vancouver in 2005 I think...it was amazing. I met Marty from Bungie and talked with him for a bit too...really nice guy, lots of stories! I also ran into the guys from the Electric Playground who run the event...everyone was very approachable there, it was really awesome.

I have attended this back in 2006, Toronto. It was honestly extremely touching and one of the most memorable events of my life.

You think the Nations capital would be a hot spot for something like this.

It's amazing how many cool events happen to miss the DC area. Hell, some of the best bands that play here have to play in the shithole known at the 9:30 Club. LAME!

It's alright Nex, they'll visit us and Toneman someday.

Then again, I can live without seeing Tommy Talerico's face.

Could be worse. You could live in Miami. Where we don't exist to VGL. Apparently the only big city in Florida is Orlando.

I'm actually sick of looking at all those dates. I know them by heart. I'm the admin at the VGL forum who added all those new dates.

How the hell could they have a show in Buffalo and two each in the capital cities of Utah and Texas, but not visit any of the major East Coast cities? Hello? New York, Boston, Philly, DC, Baltimore...WTF? I mean, I only care about New York, because that’s where I am, but seriously...nothing on the East Coast (except Orlando, I guess)? Do they not want people to come see them?

Yo Everyone!,

As we mentioned in the press release these are only the first 25 new dates (which take us until March). There are MANY more coming and most of the places everyone mentioned are on our list.

Thanks for the interest and support!
