I'm going to take the easy route here and just assume that this is what it looks like when the ESA and the VGVN try to make me laugh, because this is hilarious. While I'm most certainly in support of the cause, I don't know if I'm quite ready to associate scary-ass latin choir music to our epic struggle against video game legislation. And while it stings just a smidge that there are some who associate my pastime (and me, by extension) with baby-slaying, unicorn-roasting evil, comparing our plight with that of women who were vilified for, y'know, reading pushes the proverbial envelope a hair too far.

So, I did the math in my head, and though the VGVN Web site would have me believing otherwise -- not even a big, bold "LOL" in the copy? -- let's just say that this is the funniest Goddamn thing I've seen in weeks, and the ESA should be congratulated for that.

I just hope, y'know, that's what they were going for.

For the record, wouldn't it be swell if in 50 years we could have some sort of fight for video games program on the History Channel or somesuch? Sepia-toned footage of some dude's silhouette in front of a computer, the fade into an Outlook window, and the voiceover: "My dearest Clara, not a day passes that I do not think of you as we carry on in our struggle against gaming legislation here on the very edge of democracy itself," that kind of thing.

Someone get on that.
