Here’s a video showcasing gameplay for the PlayStation 3 version of Burnout Paradise. It should be noted that this is a pre-alpha build of the game.
The first thing you’ll probably notice is the open-ended world. Not having loading screens for this type of game is a huge plus, because when you want to wreck some sh*t, you don’t do it for a few minutes and then stop all of a sudden -- you need to satisfy your appetite for destruction by going on an hour-long rampage.
Taking down your friends has never been so much fun thanks to the new crash physics and the ability to see their annoyed faces via PlayStation Eye or Xbox Live Vision camera. You could probably even get your opponent to wreck his/her vehicle by flashing them during your "mugshot."
All in all, Burnout Paradise seems to be coming along nicely. I missed out on the last couple games, but seeing as how this is a "complete reinvention" of the series, I’m willing to give it another shot.
Jordan Devore is Destructoid's PC gaming manager and founding ginger editor. He is said to be easy to love but difficult to know. When Samit inquired about his curious bio photo Jordan simply replied: "bitches love sandcastles" ... yet, there is no sandcastle in that photo. We may never truly understand his ways.

the idea of a burnout city full of people driving around like assholes is gonna be the best thing ever. im gonna park my car sideways at the tops of jumps and just wait for people to try and jump it.
god-damned awful. Really. I'm a huge Burnout fan. I've been a fan since the first one. This is damned Need for Speed.
The first two Burnout games, revolved around speed and recognizable traffic patters designed in a way as to where you can maintain an optimal (and very cool) path and fly through the course.
The later 3 Burnout games, revolved around traffic combat, grinding and smashing battles at ultra-high speed.
This demo shoes neither of those two things. It might end up being a good game. But it doesn't look at all like a good Burnout game.
Y'know the more I see of this, the more I'm along the lines of agreeing (at least partly) with what karmakin has said above. It does look lovely and the crash physics make me kinda moist, but I'm struggling to see Burnout in there. Maybe it's because the demos show the out of car view (understandably) and I'm not getting that trademark sence of speed that only bumper-cam can give.
Proper judgement can wait for release. I just hope that the the city is locked down to proper tracks when racing.
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Everything I know about tip giving I learned from Joe Burling himself.
Maybe because we don't watch EG?
Finally we get to see a nice looking early PS3 build of a game. Gotta say it looks smooth for pre-alpha.

Physics were a little off in a couple of places but otherwise this is looking awesome for a pre-alpha.
