Victory Dance! Final Fantasy VI is available on PSN today photo

C'mon! Do the Final Fantasy Victory Dance, complete with fist pumps, as role-playing classic Final Fantasy VI is available on the PlayStation Network today. One of the finest videogames ever made is now ready for play on your PSP or PS3 for the price of $9.99.

This is the Final Fantasy Anthology version, which we first saw in 1999. I was happy to get it then, and I'm just as happy to see it again now. This game blew my freaking mind when it first came out, and it still holds up really well today. World-class operas, creepy ghost trains, sky-shaking summons, steampunk mechs, Moogles and the amazing Kefka. What a killer game.

Speaking of the "Victory Fanfare," I love how the Final Fantasy VI version is disco themed. If you want to fist pump along, there's a 15-minute (!) loop after the jump.

Boss Battles for the Soul emulates SNES boss themes

Retro game inspired music speaks to me (as I'm sure it does for many of you), and while I do enjoy a good remix/remake/remaster here and there, a lot of my favorite pieces are original compositions. Electronic music creator ...more

Final Fantasy VI coming to iOS/Android this winter

Final Fantasy VI, arguably the series' zenith, hasn't been milked and re-released to the same extent as other titles in the franchise. Even the harder to obtain Final Fantasy V has come to iOS. Well, no more, says Square Enix...more

Final Fantas-free: 14 day Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn trial

Square Enix is offering 14 days of free Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn on PC. As someone who doesn't like MMOs, but likes Final Fantasy, I might just try it out. Fourteen may be the perfect number of days for me to get my fill. Or maybe I'll find myself a convert and end up a paying customer, as Square Enix likely hopes. more

Final Fantasy director Tetsuya Nomura designed a Batman figure that looks like a Gundam

Square Enix has partnered WB and DC for a PlayArts Kai line of Batman toys designed by Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts director Tetsuya Nomura. Not a single zipper in sight. The first prototype, above, is gracing Comic Con and looking a bit like Death Scythe from Gundam Wing (with some Spawn in there, maybe).more

Video: You could win the Theatrhythm: Curtain Call contest, I definitely won't

As we reported earlier today, Square-Enix is holding a contest to win some fabulous Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call prizes. All you have to do is create a short video of your own musical rendition of the Final Fantasy "Main Theme". I took the opportunity to try to turn this news report into an entry for the contest. I probably won't win.more
