VGA Interviews: Limbo, Criterion, Treyarch, and Lost! photo

So, I was at the Spike VGAs on Saturday ... which was pretty cool! I also did some interviews while on the red carpet before the show ... which was even cooler!

I am terrible at interviewing, but Max Scoville and Tara Long (down from San Francisco to shoot some stuff for the Destructoid show) were nice enough to let me jump in and attempt to talk to people in their place.

Again, I am terrible at this, but it was a lot of fun, the people I spoke with were nice and interesting, and I am very grateful for the opportunity.

Hit the jump to watch my interviews with Mads Wibroe, producer of (Destructoid Game of the Year nominee!) Limbo, Mark Lamia of Treyarch, Craig Sullivan of Criterion, and Lost and Lord of the Ring’s very own Dominic Monaghan.

Thanks again to Tara and Max for letting me try out their jobs for a bit. It’s hard!

That Limbo interview was priceless! Mads really is a genuinely cool guy. It's nice when a game you admire has awesome people working behind it too. Great job Chad!

Those were awesome Chad. The sound on the other hand, was tearing my ears apart! Also, Dominic seems like kind of a prick to be honest.

... actually you ask the same questions most gamers would want to ask! You have a charming enthusiasm that comes across well on screen and you seem like an actual gamer and less of a TV person. (some of the interviews I see seem very "professional" but the interviewer doesn't really seem like they've actually gamed much)

The hug from the Limbo guy was awesome! :)
(and the Treyarch guy asking if he can swear! LOL)
... the "Burnout Paradise" faux pas was even funny... and exactly the way gamers think! Burnout was HUGE... and while Hot Pursuit is their new game... and it's good, I think a lot of us still think "Burnout")
... Dominic... I liked when you asked him whether he'd played games he's actually in.. he even showed a tiny spark of enthusiasm in his answer.

I hope you always retain that enthusiasm and honesty in your interviewing!

You're great Chad! Just be the gamer you are! You're a lot cooler than some experienced newscaster who isn't a true gamer.

I think you were very, very charming with Dominic Monaghan.
Plus "Have fun doing the rest of the thing!" might be the single most awesome thing any interviewer has ever said on a red carpet.

Chad, your a far far FAR better interviewer then some other internet game bloggers/personalities out there. Lets take Angry Joe from the Angry Joe Show. Guy gets an interview with Geoff Kneighley at the same show you were at, gets completely steamrolled by Kneighley before he even gets started with the interview and gets made to look like a yammering chimp THEN posts it on the various sites he contributes to with extra footage and comentary of him getting pissed off and being brought to near tears whining.

And why did he get made to look that way? Because he's bad mouthed the show so badly in the past, as if the show really actually matters to anyone at all in the first place, and they took notice and decided to put him in his place (and well, in my opinion at least, Kneighley is a cocky bastard), basically making him look completely stupid for his troubles (which he furthered by posting the video ranting that he's "the champion of core gamers").

He had 0 control over his interview and commanded no respect from Kneighley, so no wonder he completely fell on his face. So if you want to look at a bad interviewer go find the video of him and Kneighley on one of his many sites because THATS a bad interviewer/commentator.
