Vblank is going all out with Retro City Rampage at PAX photo

You have to give props to smaller developers like Vblank Entertainment. What they may lack in sheer manpower gets made up for with smart, funny marketing and cool promotions. Also, down-to-earth radness -- gotta have that. As part of the PAX 10, Retro City Rampage will be playable at booth #3017.

Better yet, the booth will have real-life goodies up for the taking:

  • NES-inspired cartridge labels
  • NES-inspired boxes (straight off the presses)
  • Sega Master System-inspired case inserts
  • Permastruct-inspired game rental case inserts

There will also be daily draws for the NES cartridge cases. Vblank mentioned that Retro City Rampage is now multiplatform, which I hadn't heard before, but right now they can only confirm a WiiWare release.

Check out the gallery for shots of the merch and some screenshots of the game, in case you somehow forgot what it looks like. (Be on the lookout for some killer references.)

Really nice. Say what you want but I love the Master System covers. Vblank's rendition is spot-on... except for the font used on the title. It was closer to "Modern no. 20", similar to Bodoni. At least that's what I use on my mock-ups.

Gotta love that happy little guy jumping holding an uzi!

I'm glad this is confirmed as multiplatform, because I'd prefer to play it not on the Wii. I just hope it doesn't harm their sales at release too much.

I've been waiting for this game for months now! I can't wait! I'll be first in line for this and Super Meat Boy at the PAX 10 booth! <3

Also, Vanilla Ice Cream.

Oh thank God it's multiplatform, now I'll actually be able to get it, unlike Cave Story Wii.

Man, I SO remember those Permastruct inserts from my youth of renting NES carts from an independent video store that was barely a brief walk from my door. Instant nostalgia.

I also love the receipt from a video store, but I'm pretty sure HST is not era-correct, should be PST and maybe GST as well, but HST is new (at least thats the case in Ontario, not absolutely sure about BC).
