Vanquish gets dated for Japan: October 21st photo

Well, I blew my load right up there in the headline, so there's not much to say here. I guess I can tell you that I played Sega and Platinum's Vanquish at E3 and was quite impressed. This shooter is crazy, fast, and stylistic -- no silly musclebound meatheads here. The gameplay is insane, but also makes you feel like a bit of a badass as you make your way through the insanity. I really dug that.

As for the date, Famitusu's latest issue has a Vanquish spread that drops the October 21st date in its info box, says Siliconera.

If what Sega was saying earlier holds, we'll also see our copies hit the shelves around the same time.

If you missed it, here's our full preview of Vanquish from E3.

Hit the shelves? For some reason I thought this was going to be download only. Don't know where the hell I got that from. Anyways, this game looks fun as shit.

Hopefully the previous comments Shinji mikami stated will hold true and we won't have another bayonetta/ps3 situation. And if I'm not mistaken ps3 is the lead platform this time around.

The game looks like it would be fun for a few hours, but it still seems rather generic. I'll give it a shot, though. The creator of Resident Evil will probably still produce gold.

If this game is half as fun as Bayonetta it's a day 1 purchase for me.

I wonder what the release date will be like in the US? GameFAQs says October.

The timing sounds great though, by then I'll be about ready to put Halo: Reach on pause.

I'm really excited for this one. Bayonetta, was an amazing hack n slash. And this looks to be an equally amazing, third person shooter. Just pleeeeeeeeease platinum games, give me a decent story this time round. My only complaint against Bayonetta was the story, man was it panful watching those cutscenes

The gameplay video posted a while back is from the PS3 version and seems to be running well. Can't really tell the visual quality from a video like that, but I'd like to think Platinum Games wants to save face after their lackluster treatment of Bayonetta, only to have the PS3 version sell a little better, so they'll really be giving Vanquish the best effort they can.

Besides, history has shown that PS3 lead development and porting to 360 makes it good all around. Why do it any other way?

Yeah, We wont be able to tell for ourselves until we actually get our hands on it. I only have a PS3 so obviously i bought Bayonetta on it and although it did have its issues it did not detract too much from the experience. And as far as the latter of your statement, i am in total agreement. Well said my friend.

This better not be 2011 in NA or I'll be pissed.

I’d say they’ll release it in January since it seemed to work so well for Bayonetta.

Why are a lot of people so reserved about Vanquish yet completely psyched for other games like Gears of War 3? Vanquish looks far from generic, and if you're worried about a Japanese developer making a third person shooter, it was Mikami himself who directed Resident Evil 4, one of the very best.

Developing on the PS3 as the lead and porting to 360 is impossible...THE 360 HAS NO SPEs!!!

Meh, Ill prolly rent it. After the repetitive Bayonetta I really don't expect much from Platinum. I feel their games are all style and not much else.

This game better not play as generic as it looks.
