I must confess that I didn't even know Vanguard: Saga of Heroes was still a thing. I haven't seen hide nor hair of it in years; it seemed to just slink away after it was released. I recall almost picking it up a long time ago, only to end up buying Lord of the Rings Online, instead. Yet Vanguard remains, and much like its competition did some time ago, it's made the move to free-to-play.

SOE are promising to enhance the game and provide regular updates, which will no doubt please its current users. I seem to remember mounted combat being a thing they were making a fuss about back in 2007, but it looks like it's not a feature. Fighting on a dragon is, I admit, a major draw for me. Regardless, this might be the right time to take a look at a game I almost bought five years ago.
