When it comes to horror, there's a school of thought that suggests the less you see of what is intended to frighten the viewer, the more terrifying it is. This trailer for the PS3 port of last year's 360 abomination, Vampire Rain (subtitled Altered Species for the new release) has really taken this idea to heart. Notice the utter lack of anything that resembles footage from the game, as we're treated to a scene of a guy running from a "vampire" more laughable than a LARP full of people who actually think they are vampires.

If I were an executive at AQ Interactive, and I saw this video to promote our product, I would be in the midst of an ethical quandry: On one hand, I would want to fire the person responsible for producing such a terrible ad. On the other, the guy probably deserves a promotion for making Vampire Rain look better by comparison.

That may be one of the worst advertisements that I've ever seen.

Maaaan, there is a woman covered in dirt and a loud noise! Scary! I still can't get over the fact that a puddle of goo that enemies leave after they die can kill you. That is beyond explanation. At least ib terms of game design.

There's a demo on the Japanese PSN, it looks and plays a bit like a sub-Syphon Filter clone (PSone that is, not the well received PSP games.)

They need to get the guy who worked on that Duke Nukem DS trailer to help these guys out. Need more logo flashes, awesome music, etc.

Man, I created a Japanese account just to download some demos, and this is one of the ones I got. When I booted it up... What the actual fuck? It looks like a PSOne game, plays like a bad student project, is scripted like a Uwe Boll version of itself, and makes Kane & Lynch look like the next Ueda game.

Plus, WHAT THE FUCK is with the orgasm vampire transition and the audio clipping as some retarded "voice actor" makes generic wailing noises into a $10 Ventrilo headset?

I just had to reply again to apologise to Uwe Boll for using his name to describe this piece of crap.

What a wasted advertisement. I see nothing that makes we want to shell out money on a new game. Hell, I see nothing that let's me know that it's an advertisement for a game in the first place. FAIL.

That was so very 1990's advertising.

I love how at the end of the video they show the cover and for some reason, the main title, 'Vampire Rain' is much smaller text than 'Altered Species.' Gee, why would they do that? Could it be that they don't want it associated with the pile of shit that was Vampire Rain? :P

Why'd they even bother with this "teaser"?
