If they're, you know, up to snuff. Knowing full well how talented the massive group of people who adore Team Fortress 2 is, cool-looking items and avatars should be the least of our worries.
Valve recently opened up a new page called "Contribute!" that asks for fan-made creations. For the time being, it's more or less just a place for you to upload your stuff. Eventually, the site will become a sort of hub where you can look at everyone's approved submissions.
Until then, I suggest you watch the attached video a few hundred times.
Jordan Devore is Destructoid's PC gaming manager and founding ginger editor. He is said to be easy to love but difficult to know. When Samit inquired about his curious bio photo Jordan simply replied: "bitches love sandcastles" ... yet, there is no sandcastle in that photo. We may never truly understand his ways.

This is why I love Valve so much. If Micro$oft was doing this, these community made items would be called "Indy items" and they would charge you 100 magic points each.
After all the classes get updated, I doubt Valve wants to have a drought in content, so why not let the rabid (myself included) community keep doing their work?

If you did camp Reddit, you would see that that was the number one link on the gaming section for a while and was on the gaming section for even longer than that.
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
We get it, you go on reddit. That doesn't mean that you have to post every video that gets posted on reddit two days later.
I pretty much camp reddit, but never saw that video. Way to be a dick.
