Valve to bring Team Fortress 2 updates to Xbox 360 sometime this year photo

It seems like every time we post about Team Fortress 2 here, there are always a few mandatory "where's the 360 love?" comments. As it turns out, Valve has finally got an answer for those questions: it's coming later this year.

Valve's Doug Lombardi revealed that the company's plan is to hold off on getting the current TF2 updates onto the Xbox 360 until they can give console players more bang for their buck.

Since Microsoft is making Valve charge for the DLC, 360 owners won't be seeing the new content until more updates are released for the PC version.

No details were given on what's going to happen with the PlayStation 3 version of Team Fortress 2, but seeing as how the system has been somewhat of an afterthought when it comes to most multiplatform games, I wouldn't get your hopes up yet.

I wouldn't still be playing the game without the updates so far.

Need more ammo!

I've played this to death...can't wait. With the amount of time put into Orange Box, price is no option right now.

A pity they will charge. But at least they're making it more worthwhile.

@Scrixx: Yeah, people play it on consoles. It's kinda laggy at times, but that may just be my connection.

Ugh, and again, why I'll never play a Valve game on anything besides the PC. You lose so much content, and when they finally do put it out, they have to charge for it :(

Get ready to pay for free content

I'd really like to see Mircosoft's argument as to why they absolutely POSTIVELY have to charge for this. Seriously it boggles the mind...especially with people shelling out cash to use the god damn service.

anytime you see people wondering why you have to pay for free content, there's always someone making a comment like "wow, a business trying to make money" but thats not the point. M$ already made $ from folks buying the game and paying for Live and they still want to squeeze more $$ out despite the fact the Valve wants its fans to have it for free. It's disgusting but unfortunately, I tend to play my 360 more than my other consoles so for now I'll pay. I really hope PS3 gives M$ a run for their, um, money. Cause then maybe M$ will rethink the way the do things..maybe

What I don't understand is that they can add major content to Burnout Paradise - new cars, motorcycles, new game modes, and more, all for free - but they can't add this new stuff to TF2 for free? Makes no sense.

Gotta admit, I haven't touched TF2 on the Xbox after I got Call of Duty 4. I much prefer that online experience.

I nearly passed out when I read the headline. I'm not kidding, at all. I can't imagine how much content they're going to release, though. I mean, the contents of these three class updates would be more than enough to pay money for. Hopefully this will mean that Valve will throw in a few 360-exclusives, even if it's just a map or something. If only to piss off the PC elitist shits. ;)

@TurboSpaz
This content isn't free, unless you can come up with a way to magically adapt the free PC content so that it's compatible with a 360 all by yourself. PC content is free, this is not. It sucks, but that's life.

Is probably a wait until they have enough content to release on the console version. Microsft is probably bitching about bandwith.

@the barking dog: Yes yes yes! Why is burnout paradise free but TF2 is not? Theres something fishy going on here. Or maybe M$ just didn't want to piss off EA since they're such a big company? Thats the only thing I can think of. Still not fair to valve though.

PC version will always be better, but the 360 & PS3 versions are fine.

Sharpless, you do realize that if they give something "exclusively" to the 360, the community can just remake that similarly if not exactly on the PC.

I wonder if it'll be cheaper for me to get these, or to just buy TF2 on the PC once I get a decent one.

I had Orange Box on 360, and got rid of it to buy it again through steam once I upgraded my PC.

I am far from a PC snob, but pings are horrible here in Australia over XBL games, so when faced with that over a ping of 24 on a local server with PC, theres no contest.

Not all of us on PC hate MP console shooters, its just a matter of viability.
