- "Valve lied about DLC".
Well... you're commenting in an article in which they have announced a forthcoming DLC announcement. They have mentioned this multiple times, many times, that they will provide more DLC for L4D1, that they WILL continue to support it. There are no two ways about this. I won't go to the bother of linking them because I am sure you have already read them.
- "DLC was late or unfinished"
Four Vs maps at lauch would have meant 4 unfinished and heavily bugged maps. I'm happy with the system they used, as we ended up with very tight and well designed content that extended the life of the game. As for survival, I can understand you not liking it, but please don't pretend you speak for the majority. It is also a much tougher job creating and testing those maps than you think. Finally, the SDK release was late, which is not unusual for valve. So that bald guy said it would be released after launch, and he was wrong. I don't think that makes him a liar, I think it just took them longer than they expected.
- "Valve started working on L4D2 straight away"
I'm hesitant to believe this is because they wanted to whore out the franchise. Valve works in a different way. I'm sure a lot of the dev team were buzzing with ideas off the back off L4D, and wanted to get to work on their ideas as soon as possible. I don't suppose they even knew it would become a sequel that early on either. I don't agree with this point entirely, however, I'm still on the fence about what content should have been free and what should have been charged for. But we'll never know how their development went, we won't know the difference. So I guess it doesn't matter.
There'd a bit more but I have to leave now. Just to wrap up, if you want to respond, please send me a PM, I don't want to have to come find this thread.
