Valve spending £6 million on Left 4 Dead 2 in UK photo

Valve wants us all to know that Left 4 Dead 2 is out this month, and it shall spare no expense in getting that message across. We already know that the upcoming zombie shooter has a worldwide marketing budget of $25 million, but Valve has today stated that a whopping £6 million of the fund is going to Britain.

"$25m is being spent on the game’s launch globally. Half is set aside for Europe, with the lion’s share being spent on the UK release," says Valve's Doug Lombardi.

Gabe Newell adds that he believes Left 4 Dead 2 will be the most successful game his company's ever made: "Based on the strength of pre-orders, Left 4 Dead 2 will be the fastest-selling product in Valve’s history."

Left 4 Dead 2 is on sale November 17 in the US and November 20 in Europe. All signs point to it being a massive success, despite the controversy that surrounded its original announcement. Its new modes, Infected and weaponry all seem to be superior additions, and the game itself should be just as awesome as the original, if not better. I personally can't wait.

Welcome to the world of quick sequels Valve. Now please, don't get used to it.

Because we're worth it ;-)

Having said that, are there any football/soccer games out this month? Advertising during football/soccer matches seems the way to go for video games in the UK.

The only L4D2 news I get is from the Robot's mouth, here, and Steam.

If Valve take off into a mainstream success, good on them. They deserve it more than any other developer. Now where's ep3?

MW2, Dragon Age Origins, L4D2, Borderlands. Not to look a gift horse in the mouth, but this sucks. I'm still immersed in Borderlands. MW2 will be bought day of release. I won't be ready for L4D2 by the 17th.

If you announce Ep. 3 I will personally make sure its pre-orders eclipse this one year turnaround sequel bullshit. Nothing against, L4D2, I have it pre-ordered, but if Ep. 3 isn't taking so long because it's on a brand new engine then wtf is going on?

That leaves me wondering how much they spent on the US.

@CWal37

Valve Time!

Good point GoldenGamerZero

I guess Half Life 3 will come out when we're all elderly citizens of the Cosmic Earth nation, and kids run around on hoverboards and Skynet doesn't afraid of anything.

Pre-ordered. I found it interesting that the UK box art looks different to avoid the "V" sign insulting gesture:

The demo is pretty badass... is it weird that I'm not that excited for this anymore? Ever since I played Borderlands I haven't been finding a sincere interest in other games.
