At gamescom, Valve project manager Erik Johnson is looking to make nice with PS3 owners after their release of the turd version of Orange Box, which got the shaft in everything from DLC to framerate.
"PS3 is incredibly important to us," he said. "We don't feel that the PS3 users had the Valve experience that we like to deliver.
"So it that case it's incredibly important to us; we kind of fix everything wrong in the products that we delivered before for the PS3, which we thought were good but weren't quite the Valve experience."
Now that their engine is good to go on the PS3, things will work out nicely. Beyond that, CVG says Johnson noted that several PS3 veterans are working on the platform now:
"We have a handful of people who have a very strong PS3 background. They worked on a bunch of the early PS3 games and they're big fans of the platform. So they're really excited and jumped immediately at the chance to get Source up and running in Portal 2 on PS3."
It's all good now.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Now if only Blizzard and Sony would...hmm.
And that my friends, is a back peddling violinist.
With that said, PC will still always be the first and best choice.
I guess in like 5 more years then?
@EDS
Yeah they are nice but not fresh, HL2 is awesome and all that but they havn't done much to change the look/style of their games in a while.
This makes it sound like the 360 version got DLC, which, I can assure you, has not happened. Hell, you still get shot through the wall on Dustbowl in TF2.
Well of course but people are stubborn with their platforms of choice. Over a course of time even a person on a Burger King fry cook's salary can get every single gaming platform in a couple years no sweat. The only thing that stops them is platform loyalty.
You may think "that's bullshit" but I guarantee you I can in an hour find 15 people who think in a very real way that "The PS3 doesn't have many games!", "The 360 is unplayable!" or "The PC costs $2000."
I thought you guys were all about wireless controllers now.
My favourite Xbox games are Left 4 Dead and Mass Effect 2. Now my Xbox is quickly becoming the red headed step child.
Wait i missed that part. Valve announced that they are no longer supporting the 360 and PC?
Fucking ass hats.
It looks fine to me.
Unfortunately, Microsofts more closed system, kinda puts a damper on that.
"Have you seen any Valve games that would even run on the Wii?"
Practically anything prior to Half-Life 2.
Half-Life 1, Counter-Strike, Team Fortress Classic, Day of Defeat, Ricochet, Deathmatch Classic, yadda yadda you get the idea.
Lead & Gold was done on the diesel engine which is 10 years old along with bionic commando and g.r.a.w 1&2.
Most engines are pretty modular and allow for various custom shaders to be made. To blame the look of a game solely on an engine just shows ignorance and when I hear it come from a reviewer I simultaneously shudder and feel a huge desire to slap them.
In short, to say a game looks dated is perfectly acceptable but to attribute it to an engine such as source just makes you look silly.
Valve finally bites the multiplatform console bullet only later to throw it up after what made them special in the PC space has now been watered down.
How so? You make little sense.
I can't justify spending any reasonable amount of money on something that won't last a year before it's virus infected and has a fucked up broken OS.
That's just my inability to use a pc responsibly, that and the fact that the ps3 does everything I want gaming and otherwise means I'll stick to the ps3.
Can I haz left 4 dead now plz Gabe?
Hires people familiar with Sony's infrastructure.
We fucking love PS3!
I love valve, I do, and their games. but man this is the most hypocritical u-turn ever.
Yes they lost exclusivity. Is that so hard to understand?
