Valve grabbed some Naughty Dog devs [Corrected] photo

While all out confirmation that Valve is starting to really develop for the PS3 hasn't come down the line yet, we've heard enough from people at the company to know that it is. At some point we're going to see a Valve game that is fully developed by Valve on the PS3. It is going to happen and it looks like they're taking it seriously as well. A few years back they went out and grabbed some of the top employees from Naughty Dog's development team, and we all know how well Naughty Dog does PS3.

The hires include Vitaliy Genkin, Alex Vlachos, and Elan Ruskin. It's not hard to conclude that they were brought on to help Valve better develop for whatever game they're making for the PS3. As with everything Valve does, it doesn't look like they'll be half assing their PS3 games at all. Guess we can have one more great gaming company on the PS3.

Well, I really didn't need Valve games on my PS3, as Valve games is meant to be played on PC. But I sure hope that don't hurt Naughty Dog. They've gotten big, but I'm sure they'll manage.

I like my eggs scrambled. Doesn't matter either way as PC will almost always come out on top.

Yeah, we get it. Valve games are meant to be played on PC but those of use without a decent PC are just as happy to play Valve games on consoles. I really hope this means that Portal 2 and Episode 3 will be coming to PS3, it would be just cruel to exclude PS3 owners who had played the preceding games on the Orange Box.

Also, my favourite eggs are scrambled on buttered slices of thick white bread and streaky bacon on top. Just in case someone wants to make me breakfast sometime...

You know, whether it's gonna be for ports or new IPs, the Naughty Dog guys seem to be the right pick.

@MrPibb:
I just said _I_ didn't need it, I'm sure someone will appreciate Valve games on PS3. But unless Valve start supporting console games better after launch, it's best on PC, and that's where I'm playing it.

It would be especially wild if they made PS3 exclusive, but surely that would be a financial gaffe.

Another possible reason for the hires: maybe they just want especially gifted programmers, and it has nothing to do with the PS3.

Well, Valve couldn't have picked a better company to look for PS3 dev experience. I doubt this will hurt ND all that much. Not that those employees weren't good, but rather a company like ND obviously has a culture [much like Valve] in place that allows it to remain a top performer.

Best of luck to those devs and may the good games keep flowing out in abundance from these two awesome companies.

Oh, and Valve games are best on PC... But since my PC sucks and I'm tight on money I'll greatly appreciate Ep. 3, Portal 2 and Left 4 Dead 3 potentially coming to the PS3 along were other titles.

Hopefully this means that Sony will allow updates to the games for free - thusly forcing to Microsoft to do the same. Forcing a charge for Crash Course when Valve wanted it to be free was the lowest of the low...

Either way this is all good news. The more people that get to play the games, the better.

Nice, they actually hired some programmers who won't whine about how the PS3 is "too hard" to program for. Good job Valve!

How is this news?

Happy day for PS3 owners! As for me, I'll stick with computer versions. Nothing adds re playability like custom content.
I bet all those "Shitty games" that PS3 fanboys said they don't want tainting their magical black box are suddenly not as shitty anymore.

Well these guys will obviously be developing PS3 ports of Valve games, but what interests me is the question of what else they'll be doing. Will they be creatively involved in the development of upcoming games like Portal 2?

ROFL at the people posting here who think these guys will be making PS3 Valve games. They have been working for Valve since 2006, helped make Portal and both Left 4 Dead games and in their linkedinp rofiles it says "Xbox 360 and PC optimization."

They never worked on Uncharted 2.

Hey now, they might still have some experience on the PS3 requirements. Remember it was EA's own department who worked on the port.

Glad to hear the techno wizards over at Valve have finally figured out how to put a want add on Craig's List for PS3 development engineer skills.

Were they waiting for a special tax break before creating one job for Microsoft's competition?
